I wonder who the first regional will be to fly an A319 for $24/hour sometime in the future.

AAG is about a decade behind Delta. As Delta looks to reduce their regional footprint, AAG is trying to expand. The E175,CRJ700/900 are not regional airplanes at all. But bankruptcy judges have allowed the argument of the various main lines to reduce scope in order to be competitive.

What the mainline pilots weren't able to keep in the courtroom, they'll eventually get back with attrition and shortages at the regional level.

AAG will probably find carriers to fly these. But it is more likely that the new airplane placement will not represent any growth at an airline, other smaller and less efficient airplanes would just be replaced. And that is probably a sticking point in the negotiations- the regional airline(s) who flies them will certainly want protections against any loss of removing a 50 seat airplane and replacing it with a 70 seat.

Most other regionals are under contracts with other mainlines. Take Mesa for example, they can't park a CRJ flown for another mainline and replace it with an AA 175. Even the wholly owned PDT can't replace dash 8 flying with 175s. In theory I guess they could just close their dash routes, but that's a lot of flying to just get rid of.

AA is unwilling to increase their regional subsidiary's pay even 20%. Why would they pay an even higher premium to bring them to mainline?

scream about regional rates while ****ing away millions in equity destruction - then pay another contractor MORE than Envoy 8 yr contract rates.

Maybe those RFP's will be met with the sound of crickets since no one can staff them

Crickets is what I am hearing. Deals taking to long to be made since AAG said other regionals were salivating at to possibility to grab eagle flying. Summer is coming and the fun is to begin.

Publicly traded companies are ran quarter to quarter. Only the current quarter is of any importance. Planning for the future, nah.

I know this is sarcasm but these planes are due in first qrtr 2015. Whoever flys these would probably already have the training up and running by now. That leave just a handful of companies.
