Skywest vs. envoy

... and you have characters who would be otherwise not hire-able slip through the cracks. Whether it be due to qualifications (i.e. no college degree), skeletons in the closet, or odd personalities that don't jive well with others, these types are now going to be sitting in ground school at AA alongside street hires with very impressive resumes... And American is doing just that by inviting in whoever ENY, PDT, and PSA can scrape up at the current regional hiring standards.
Northwest's solution to the problem you pose was to conduct the Compass Interviews themselves. In my opinion, the Commutair Flow is the perfect system for weeding out the bad seeds. The company will access to years of records (experience) with the person and has the authority to prevent the person from moving up.

Let's see you have that same attitude in about 3-5 years when you are desperately trying to get hired on at a mainline carrier. Meanwhile everyone at Envoy who was at your seniority and junior has already flowed to AA.
Save your "the world can end tomorrow and therefore the flow will stop" excuses.

Let's see what your attitude is in 3-5 years when you are still waiting on the flow making ****** wages along with terrible QOL.

Has it officially been said that the DL 175s SkyWest is getting are going to LAX? Everyone I've talked to at SkyWest still doesn't know anything about where they will go. LAX E175 base in May but no DL 175s until August, right? Could it be a United 175 base?

In LAX you will only sit reserve after you finish IOE and until you can bid, so maybe a month if the timing of IOE completion and bidding don't line up well. Can't speak for SEA or MSP.

Haven't read the rest of the thread, I'm sure it's mindless banter and my regional is better than your regional attitude. But, it's simple, really. Where do you live? Or where do you want to live? Choose the regional that answers that question. Either one isn't a bad pick IMO.
Caveat Emptor.

I'm not planning on going anywhere else unless my LCC goes TU. I'm treated better than AA treats their guys and have better QOL. The money is a little less, for now, but there is lots of soft time AA doesn't have.

Hello all and happy holidays, so I'll lay it out as clear as I can
I have 1200+ hrs and have been interviewing with a few regionals
I landed an offer with envoy pending 1500 hrs (all other requirements are met)
I have been in contact with others including Skywest who I have in interview with in December
I will be commuting from California( not moving for now)
So here my question, what do you guys think about either company for present and future. I see it more simply as this
30$ an hour at Sky west compared to 24 @ envoy
Sky west has a 2 month reserve
Envoy is 2/5 years
Sky west is non Union and no flow
Envoy does
Please chime in thanks!

Other things to consider:
Even though new hires aren't sitting reserve for very long, at some point you will upgrade and you will sit for years on reserve as a Captain. SkyWest reserve is a unique kind of hell that has no real description. On reserve at SkyWest, you will be treated on a sub human scale. Of all the people that I've run into that left SkyWest for a total different career left because of the way they were treated by SkyWest on reserve. If you come here consider yourself warned.
Training failures, have been mounting and are climbing higher, as a percetage. There has been a total turn over of training department management and there is little room for issues. Many new ground and sim instructors that have zilch experience. Lots of new LCA's again with little experience. Until you have finished your IOE your CP cannot help you, you are at the mercy of some new training department micro manager that is out to make a name for themselves.
If I was in your position, flow would have a lot of weight in my decision.
The upgrade at SkyWest is at least 3 years and things could change over night and come to a grinding halt.
There is no way I could bunk up with another person for 2 months, SkyWest only offers rooms with 2 guys in them, nice way to start your "first class career"!
I'm senior SkyWest, I would go Compass, Envoy, Republic in that order.

I've been commuting to reserve in MSP for the past few months, and while commuting sucks I really can't complain. In fact, it's been a much better experience than I was planning on.
This forum brings out the whiners. Looking at this poster's history, it's clear that's exactly what he is, so take his opinion for what it's worth.

So many pages of worthless banter.
The OP has one offer and hasn't interviewed anywhere else yet although he has one pending.
Take the first class date then decide from there if you have more choice.
