Envoy Flow #'s
 
It seems that 3/4 of the flow through pilots to AAL are from Envoy. 3X that of Piedmont & PSA combined. Is there something contractually that allows them to flow so many more? Will this continue indefinitely or will the flow percentages even out eventually?

Should get closer to even, eventually. There are triggers that change the numbers of flows for both airlines. Number of aircraft, what type of flow (ENY has 824/protected pilot/contractual flows) and number of pilots will all affect the rate at which the flow will happen. Currently, ENY is on a trajectory to slowly decrease the number of flows based on these factors, the others are due to increase their total.

Envoy had flow through language originally with AMR. It was similar to the number of pilots we are flowing right now. Also, our pilot group is much larger than that of PDT or PSA, so for them, it wouldn't make sense operationally to flow 30 a month (in a good month) because that would destroy the operation. But like AMF pointed out above, it will even out as we eventually work through the separate flow groups.

Its my understanding that after the current group flowing now, things will slow down or stop. In other words, we are SOL.

Your understanding? Have you even taken your type ride yet? You haven't even learned how to keep up with your shiny new jet much less understand the industry. The flow is a contractual provision, just like pay, days off and vacation days. Why don't you get a few years under your belt in this profession before you grace others with your "understanding".

Let me illustrate. Remember the beginning of this summer how all the town crier's and naysayers where running around saying that envoy management were going to cancel vacations etc. We are now in the end of July and not one vacation was cancelled. The same proves true with the flow. You will always have the members of the Envoy Haters Club ( their leader was recently banned btw) claiming the flow won't work. The fact reminds, it has worked. Even this summer, pilots flowed during June, July, & August even though the company wasn't contractually required to during the recall of the furloughed pilots. Why on earth, would a company, so shorted staffed that they "were going to cancel vacations" continue to flow pilots that they were required to?

It is not out of the goodness of their hearts. Its a recruiting and retention tool. They know that if they slow to stop the flow, there will be a mass exodus and the new hires will stop. Just like a company could choose to not pay their employees on Friday, but how many will show up on Monday? Whatever problem they attempt to solve by not writing checks, this week will cost them far more next week.

AAG views the flow as a zero cost alternative to better pay and compensation. All the regionals will have to increase their pay and benefits as the competition for new hire regional pilot intensifies. Only the AA and Delta Wholly Owns will have direct access to their Mainline's deep pockets. If there is any chance to the flow, it will be a positive improvements, not a slow or stoppage.

That's what I heard too. A gradual slowdown at the tail end of the 824 followed by several months of "molasses" flow before an outright halt.

For FlameNSky: ^^^^^perhaps my understanding is incorrect, but because AAG had been hiring into the LUS side, we are required to send 50% as flows. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it definitely isn't out of the goodness of the company's heart that they are sending guys over during recall.

Thats not how it was explained to me by a Very senior Captain.

LOL, the only worse source of industry news and perspective than a Flight Attendant or New hire pilot is a Very Senior Captain. I don't have to check my facts. I lived the Letter 3/824 Arbitration/Protected Pilot Settlement/All pilots flow contractual agreement. fiasco. You should spend more time worrying about getting off probation.
