A new Envoy pilot reports to the couch to play Xbox. When payday comes they check their bank account and see min pay with no per diem. They say to themselves "don't worry bro you fly an e-jet". A new Piedmont pilot reports to work and flys his sweet 85 hour line with 14 days off. He gets off work feeling accomplished and goes to the bar with his bros. They buy extra rounds because they have 99 problems but RESERVE is not one. TL;DR I bid reserve, pick up OT, reduce to 8 days off. Avoid overnights on reserve, sleep at home in my own bed 20+ nights a month. Lines are horrible, 4 on 2 off unless you're really senior. Best way to increase QOL here when the company won't do anything to help improve it which is sad. |

No leather jacket man. Sorry. I'm tempted to wear the one I have.... just a black generic leather pilot jacket. But I've been told they are pretty strict with the uniform policy here.
Is that how it is for all of the WO? |
I know (first hand) of a Senior AA Captain who got benched for a month because he did not have his hat on.

How many hours a month are you blocking?

I sit reserve and have credited over 100 hrs the last few months and I've probably been away from home 10 nights total. I reduce my days off to min by doing that but I also rarely fly overnights on reserve. I'm not junior on reserve though. However, the reason I do this is because lines are absolutely atrocious. I don't know why anyone who lives local would bid a 4 on 2 off line when you can make it through an entire month on reserve without doing a single 4 day. ( And pick up 200% OT on off days if you choose to do that).

What's the fleet plan for PDT? How many 145's are they getting?

Takes a serious "incident" to get an old geezer captain benched while its under review. |

20-40. It works for me right now, if the 200% goes away then this doesn't work. Just a way of getting by right now with a decent QOL/Paycheck when 4 on 2 off is the norm for someone whos seniority can't hold a line with more than 11-12 days off. I don't get much per diem but that sure beats two days off between 4 day trips. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The number they are throwing around in CLT is 80 140s/145s. The official word is "as many as we can possibly staff."
Envoy hired what...about 90 this month?!?! You hired 20? I think that shows where the jets are going to stay. |
Piedmont also has to train all current Dash pilots on the E145, so it's controlled growth. I continue to wonder why the envoy pilots (recruiters?) feel the need to trash other WOs and make crap up. Really guys? Aren't we all in pretty good shape at this point? Worry about your own situation. Piedmont is just fine.

You're just going to confuse the old man now.
If Envoy were really going to shrink and lose the 145's, then why are they hiring so many pilots? They should be slowing hiring if they are shrinking, not increasing it. |

You know it is true. Unless you start really hiring pilots, and Envoy stops hiring pilots, the 145's are going to stay at Envoy.

If that were the case then why is American transferring Envoy's 700s to PSA? The 700 is no more a common type than the 145 and 175. It's pretty clear that AAG wants to streamline the WOs with one aircraft type per certificate.

But to answer your last question yes we are all doing just fine. And just a heads up da old man likes to toss out passive aggressive questions around to all regionals. |

Yes. So why are they paying the management, training department, and all of the other expenses of 2 airlines to fly the same 50 seat jet? Why are they not spinning down PDT and just rolling them into Envoy?

Um just to make it clear he isn't an Envoy pilot. Yes you are going to be just fine. But, to be fair they aren't the only ones making things up. We Envoy pilots give a very realistic projection of flow time while PDT over states their five year flow Ponzi scheme. Pretty soon pilots are going to realize that the fast flow to AA is a pipe dream for all WO.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, daOldMan shows up and throws out some absolute garbage idea, but phrases it as a question. Usually gets called on it, and doesn't show back up for a couple days when his steaming pile of garbage post is already buried.
But to those saying that the 145s are staying at Envoy, what say you about the ones PDT is taking delivery of every month? We are all literally watching planes doing the exact opposite of what you're saying. I believe contractually, the next 20 (maybe 40?) ejets AA gets delivered have to go to Envoy. I think it would make sense to offload some 145s and take delivery of new ejects, no? Regardless, none of the WO are in bad shape, contrary to the steaming pile of garbage that is daOldMan |

It is a solution to a problem they aren't paying out the bonus because they want to. They will never fold the WO into one because we are all union and this would give the pilots too much power. It is cheaper to streamline the WO which you see going on now. Every WO class will be full from now on with new people coming in and smart pilots who are transferring from dying regionals to put them in position to get hired at a major who are retiring pilots by the THOUSANDS in the next few years. You already see it in PSA who have more pilots leaving for majors than flow transfers. |

Because there are still benefits (though deminished) of keeping the certificates separate. Envoy seems to still be getting wound down. The 700s are being sent to PSA and the 145s to Piedmont. Maybe Envoy gets more 175s, maybe they don't. Who knows at this point what the plan is. I do know that the non-WOs will slowly have their Eagle branded flying reduced and that flying will shift to the WOs. I think TSA's 145 flying will end up at Piedmont and eventually Republic's 175 flying at Envoy and perhaps some of Mesa's 900s at PSA.
I'm not saying all is great at Envoy but your definition and the worlds definition of "wound down" seems to be drastically different. |
