Internal FAA policy prohibits ASI’s from occupying any cabin (flight attendant) “jumpseat”, period! An ASI can only occupy a flight deck jumpseat when conducting a cockpit enroute inspection or a PASSENGER seat if conducting a cabin enroute inspection. This is per internal agency orders. So if there was a fed in the 145 cabin jumpseat, that fed was not following protocol and (if reported) could face disciplinary action by his manager. Beleive me when I tell you that they take this stuff VERY seriously.

Thanks!
To the original question, OAL Pilots are NOT prohibited but you will never see it advertised as available or open in writing. This leaves a lot of crews and agents confused on it. There’s a hierarchy list that determines an order for certain folks, but it is not written as saying only these people are authorized. It does not say who else is authorized either though.

If you end up in the seat, please make sure to offer the FA back his/her seat when they finish their service.

I don’t doubt you, but I don’t have access to internal FAA memos or possible changes to them. As such, me personally, if a ASI were to insist on the FA jumpseat and our OM or FARs we’re not clear I’d let him/her do so then let the FAA deal with it.

It's amazing the city pairs as well as days of the week they chose to do enroute inspections.

City without a certification branch to another city without, having the SAME FED bump you off a JS on a Friday afternoon multiple weeks in a row, etc........

You can find the ASI's Handbook on the FAA webpage.

That’s nice. I’ve got enough to keep up with and I don’t know of any requirement to be familiar with it or it’s updates. If an FAA ASI wants to risk his job over it, not really my issue if our OM and FAA regs don’t address it. Next you’ll be telling me to get into FAA 8100.

I was just saying...I don't care enough to look it up but didn't know if you did.

Meh....it’s not hostility. You’re making it sound much more serious than intended. I am merely suggesting to anybody that’s considering debating with you to reevaluate that choice. You literally NEVER back away from a stance, and you’re generally a know-it-all kind of person. Very few things are as frustrating as trying to have a discussion with a person like that. It doesn’t mean I dislike you, or have any hostility towards you. I’ve flown with you, and I liked you just fine back then. I was also pretty new at the time, so I was receptive to a person who is always trying to teach the rest of the world how little they know. Now.....not so much.
There is no hostility, though. This is not the real world, it’s the internet. I walk right past you at work and don’t say a word, but if I did it would be civil and friendly. It’s the internet, not real life.
