I guess I should be paying more attention to the programs that AA, FDX, UAl, DAL have worked with Collegiate aviation programs to bring pilots to their companies. I’m willing to bet you should pay more attention as well.
UAL partnered with one school for a pathway program, FedEx with its one feeder, AA has a cadet program with its regional partners. Delta has a program too, but still no guaranteed flow.
So why does UAL purchasing XJT guarantee any of what you’re saying? Wouldn’t it make more sense to hire from a competitor’s regional?

Five years ago it made perfect sense. Today, regionals have started cannibalizing each other for pilots. One has already ceased flying because of the shortage. If AA and DL are flowing, (not yet DL granted) then that's where the small supply of new pilots go..

When flights cancel due to lack of pilot we will see it. Or not able to put a pilot in a class
