Followup to that,

Ewr, ord, iah, which fastest currently to get to a line?

Lots of new hires would be hopefully reducing reserve time once they can get them on the line?

Yes, but that will take time. In a year or so it might be a wash. But that’s a long time to do minimal flying while those on the -145 or flying over guarantee.

my first month on reserve in IAH i was 9 away from holding a line. Another classmate 2 months in ord and hes the most senior on reserve there with weekends off. If hiring keeps up you should get knocked off reserve quick. My month on reserve ive got a trip the day before i start my reserve period so i have had to get a hotel only a time or two since i commute.

It’s based off of birthdays so it depends who else is in class with you.

When does that switch flip and you go from the GA/low time/CFI mentality of "any hour in an airplane is a good hour" to the "min hours/max pay" program? I find it fascinating that it happens for all of us.

Once you're at a major you're happy with.

For me, after about 2000 hours in the jet. But I need the $ so I still fly a lot.

For me, there is always a mix. I am still fascinated by new airplanes and love hanging out at airports. I had thousands of hours in the CRJ and loved almost every minute of it. Now I’m on a bigger airplane and love every minute of that. But I also love being at home with my family. At the end of a trip I’m ready to go home and see my wife’s head poking out from the covers. But I also look forward to going back to work.
