You are correct. We will eventually have a lot of guys rotting on reserve on the 175. There are plenty coming down the pipe.

And it is correct that there are 0 airplanes based out of ORD currently. It is not a base.

There are around 170 FO's. That is a little high for 25 aircraft. Some may still be in training so they may be accounting for the fact not 100% will finish for whatever reason and they may have overstaffed since these aircraft will see higher than normal utilization rates. It will take extra crews to staff each airplane. United is scoped out, I'm guessing E175s are going to be workhorses.

Either way, seems the 145 needs to be staffed so badly, 170 seems high.

Also going to be interesting to see how many guys that wanted Houston bail after realizing they are eternal reserve in ORD.

Not eternally. Seat lock is 18 months (or 2 years I forget ). Then you can transition to the 145 as an FO or become a captain and sit more reserve.

No one is going to be in reserve that long. There will be lots of movement off the top of the 175 FO list as captain upgrades become available and people move on to United — yes it does happen.

This is true, but it will be the longest reserve in the company. There will be quite a pile of reserves once all the FOs get through. I’d say it will push 8-12 months. There will be a big difference in the story a year from now on the 145 vs. the 175. 145 guys upgrading in 18 months and 175 guys just getting off reserve. Hopefully more airplanes come our way around that time.

Hi folks,
I’m an Ozzy fella getting close to making an application to a U.S. Regional through the E3 Visa program.

I understand things change quickly, however I’d appreciate some up-to-date info particularly with regard to the time frame from Interview to class date, time on reserve, crew bases, life-style as the various bases (for a single chap) etc etc.

I don’t know anyone at ExpressJet so any information/advice is warmly received.

Thank you very much and best wishes for 2020

BirdDog, quite a few blokes from Oz in the training pipeline this fall. Come join us! Regarding class dates......can you be here Monday? Classes start 4 times per month. Training on the AQP 145 program is about 3 months from day 1 of indoc to LOE checkride. That was with about 3+ weeks worth of down time scattered throughout the program, so it could conceivable shrink to say 2 1/2 months.

Single occupancy hotel is provided and you are paid at 65 hrs per month ($40.40 per hr). No per diem. Either the Sherton or LaQuinta. I did time in both. Sheraton is nicer and has a gym and better breakfast, but in a month there, I did not have a single shower that featured steady hot water. Given the choice, I'd take the LaQuinta with their powdered eggs.

Factor in an extra 1 1/2 weeks at a min if you need the ATP/CTP class. XJT pays for that and the Sheppard air ATP written test prep is also provided. Conducted at ATP in Bedford (near DFW). Hotel provided for that and you are paid $600. No per diem.

I was wondering if anyone has the junior date of hire and junior line holder by airframe and base?

XJTFO 01-04-2020 04:29 PM

Everyone hates the Sheraton showers. I would request LaQuinta to avoid them. If you value a shower that won’t stop in the middle or start burning or freezing you at random.... try to avoid Sheraton. The entire building has the problem. I personally value the shower over a breakfast you’ll get tired of anyway.

The IAH ERJ awards show 4 2019 hires holding CA. They must have come to XJT with P121 time.
Prior to them, there are 3 2018 hires. Maybe also had prior time, possibly true upgrades.
True upgrades are at 12/2017.

Everyone is saying to request the LaQuinta... Do not request that, I’d rather have a cold shower instead of getting sick due to mold. I believe we’ve stopped using the LaQuinta due to a health inspection finding mold. Sheraton, Best Western Plus, Holiday Inn is what you can expect.
