Retiree flight benefits are really only a thing if you’re at a wholly owned regional.

Retiree flight benefits are really only a thing if you retire from a legacy airline, and that airline stays in business. XJT used to be a wholly owned, then they weren’t, then they flew for several, then one, then cast away. I wouldn’t say that anything is really a thing in this industry, except uncertainty. Good luck to all.

Don't XJT pilots who were wholly owned COEX still have UA flight benefits?

I don’t really know the answer to that question. My point was that there are no guarantees in this business, and even less if you don’t work for the parent company who controls a benefit. There could be some unpleasant changes in the next few years. Smaller legacies and fewer regionals hits every rung on the ladder pretty hard. On the flip side, those who are able to ride it out will be in a good spot to ride the next wave, until it too crashes on the beach. 2020 sucked... hard, but 2021 could be a wild ride too.

Only if you were eligible to retire back in 2011 so maybe a handful of people.

So I remember Subodh saying once the wind down plan was in place he would work just as hard to see what is the future of ExpressJet. Has anyone heard how hard he is working on that? I did see what looked like 3 of our planes at the maintenance hanger and that still says ExpressJet on it.
