ExpressJet is looking to foreign markets for CPA's since they have some restrictions via their contract with Continental that prohibits them from flying into certain airports, offering a variety of costs, and a few other stipulations that really put the screws to their abiltiy to fly as a contract carrier hence their branded service.
This is avoided in foreign markets. They've recently tried deals in Mexico and Europe. You can actually google "ExpressJet Europe" and read some lit on it. The word from ExpressJet people in the "Ivory Tower" is a deal in '08 using 20 EMB-145 jets feeding major hubs. If ExpressJet is unable to mature a CPA with Qantas, they're planning on taking their branded flying and working on codeshare opportunities. |
we do have a 100 options for XR's, so this could be a way to get some of those. It looks as though the Expressjet Europe and Australia possibilities are there to get a feel of the industry over there and if we can work with any of the existing carriers to start up service.

cool that they may be able to ship some planes down there for qantas flying, too bad nobody working for xjet thats not aussie will be flying it.

True that...if XJet were to actually move planes to the EU and/or Australia, they would most likley have to utilize the local labor to man those planes, or get work visas for all the pilots and pay to relocate them all...a very costly and pretty much impossible feat.
Or are you guys talking about doing Qantas-branded/codeshare feeder service in the US, feeding off of Qantas long-haul routes/open skies and stuff? |
flying for qantas down in oz

I JS on XJT all the time and the guys keep telling me how Delta wants more flying but the company won't give it to them. If that's true why would they want to go overseas? Be a fun rotation though.
