The Choice: Colgan, ExpressJet, Commutair
#21
So in 8 years I've moved 62% up the Comair seniority list and I'm still 300 numbers from an upgrade. You could say it bit me in the arse too.

Second, you make my point for me:
20 pilots leaving Commutair would indeed be 13% of the list.
300 pilots leaving XJet would be 7% of the list.
So are you saying that there's no way CommutAir would lose as many as 20 pilots in a year, or are you saying that 300 is too small a number for XJet to lose in a year?
If you would rather believe CommutAir will only lose 5 pilots a year and XJet will lose a thousand, then the smart choice would be XJet if the goal was TPIC.

This industry is impossible to predict, with the planned retiring at the legacies it is possible that turbine pic will not even be a factor, after all Delta has already hired regional fo's in their last round of hiring. QOL is everything, after all, nothing is guaranteed. Make the best decision with the information you have available, and then, in the immortal words of every pilots pa "sit back, relax and enjoy the ride."

I wish Commut Air on no one...........unless you enjoy pain, suffering, stupidity and making less money then you would on unemployment.
I would go to a place where if you get stuck as a FO for a couple years you can at least have decent QOL and pay.
Plus is DUMB people keep coming to Commut Air and are willing to work for less the we will never get our Contact!

I have been at CommutAir four years and can honestly say you just have to make the best of this place. The company sucks, quality of life is poor, pay is a joke and schedules are horrible but we have a solid pilot group. The MEC is hard at work to get us guys and gals a contract but the company is in no hurry to give in on any economic areas.
It took me exactly three years to the bid to upgrade but also during a very stagnant time at CommutAir. Things are definitely on the move these days with the fleet growth, monthly upgrades and hiring. We have Captain's that are starting to get interview calls so hopefully that will progress. I believe we are flying the right type of aircraft especially with respect to the price of fuel these days.
I do believe that our biggest challenge will be to adequately staff the airline. The flight attendants have a very high turnover rate and my latest news is that we are not meeting our staffing requirement for Pilots. So will you fly alot at CommutAir? I would say yes especially as more people move on. We are a small pilot group with a decent percentage of qualified pilots that could get scooped up in the next wave. If you can get hired and get off Reserve ASAP then life will be a better. Reserve bid equals 9 days off ... need I say more. Good luck!

I do not see Delta parking 50 seat RJ's for Colgan Saabs. If you have followed the industry you would have seen Mesaba Saabs being returned every month with final phase out no later than summer 2010. Delta has announced they do not want props anymore. Why would they drop Mesaba's Saabs for Colgan's older Saabs? Does not make any sense.
Also, the new Pinnacle will have close to 150 50 seat RJ's so why do you assume 50 seaters are going to be parked for props and that Pinnacle will be immune with their large 50 seat fleet?
And on a lighter note...PruneJuice?? there is only one kind of juice on these forums, THE JUICE
