Hourly rates aside L-XJT's contract is one of the best I've worked under. I think that'll be beneficial to the L-ASA side in the new contract. So letting XJT fail may not have been in your best interest.

Ya cause that's going to matter.

Just curious is there any way a person junior to me gets a line without any pre assigned credit/training/vacation? Been leaving messages with Alpa past two days but no call backs. Just scratching my head on this.. This is on CRJ side btw..thanks
Maybe your last trip of this month put you close to 30/7 in the first week of next month so it couldn't find a trip for you that first week which kicked you to reserve. That has happened to me once. Are you calling the PBS hotline or just ALPA? The PBS line is usually good about getting back fast.
I'm on long call this month so I didn't have anything assigned...somebody pmed me a 404 number so I'm gonna try that tomorrow..

Did you remember to allow single days off? That cost me a line one month...

So do you think if for example Delta and Allegiant merged it wouldn't be beneficial to the Allegiant pilots that Delta had a better contract prior to the merger?

It would likely have to do with carry over credits or end of month trips from October. If you had a trip that conflicted with the first weekend in November (not hard this month), you would not have been able to build enough credit to get a line. Likewise, if they had a trip that started on the 31st, that extra bit of credit might have been just enough for them to meet the threshold.

Someone already mentioned, but the only other way I can think of beyond an error is if you did not select to allow single days off.

Looking at the 200 in ATL, there is only one really junior guy who was awarded a line and he got it using a single day of vacation (Thanksgiving day no less!) and bidding vacation low.

If you don't select "award all pairings before reserve" that can also dump you onto reserve if your preferences were too restrictive. Or your AQP blocked too many available trips.

All this stuff is reason why PBS needs to be changed. Junior folks getting lines happens in IAD almost every month (I have both benefited and been stung by this).

Why can't PBS trim pairings so the senior person who rightfully deserves the line qualifies and gets it? Why can't PBS mix naps with regular pairings? Why can't we designate to go 1 below the minimum number of contractual days off to get a line versus getting stuck on reserve?

The QOL and financial diffference between holding the line and getting stuck on reserve is too great under our current contract to let things like this happen. That said, I am all for giving someone a break and getting them a 65 hour credit line during vacation month. Hopefully the new contract greatly revamps the reserve rules so the senior folks will actually want to bid it (you know, like the majors do).

All this bidding below min days off and 1 day off between work blocks is pathetic.

This isn't necessarily directed at you, rvr, just an observation:

Pilots at RAH, Colgan, PSA, GoJetz, etc etc etc would kill to have either one of our contracts. Not sure why the attitude from many XJTers that they feel like they were bought by a low- or medium-tier regional. C2007 definitely has some flaws but put it up against most other regional contracts it is a pretty decent package.

Back to the meat and potatoes.... Spotted a big stash of EMB-175 materials in the ATL CPO when I was checking in for a trip last week. Anyone have the dish on that?
