Where are your roots?
Are you planning on traveling a lot? If so, are you more interested in Europe and Africa (east coast bases make European travel very easy) or Asia and the South Pacific (SFO is an incredibly gateway to the pacific rim)?
Are you a Canadair or an Embraer man? ;-)

Good luck and welcome
Seriously? People base their choice of airlne/employer based on travel benefits and easy access to non-rev?

Nobody can make this decision for you! For most (smart) people it all comes down to Quality of Life, meaning whats important is bases and work rules. You have to decide whats important to YOU! If fllying a fancy E170 is important to you and commuting for it, then that is your choice! If you want to live in base or have a short commute and enjoy better work rules, then pick the company that works best for you/family.

Living in a city that RAH has a base in means nothing. You might not get the certificate you want, you could be displaced, your base could close. It took me almost four years to be based at home, and even then I got extremely lucky. Too many people at RAH commute because of managements decisions.

Expressjet/Skywest are superior to RAH in almost every way. If you need one reason to avoid RAH, then I'd pick the chronically adversarial relationship between management and labor.

I'd say the only reason I'd take RAH is if that was the only place to hire you. One benefit I can see going to RAH is getting on the E-Series which could help your resume long term, (E.g. Contract work overseas, heavier aircraft flight time), but thats a crap shoot and not worth commuting, etc in my books.

But when it comes down to SKW/XJT, I'd say the only real difference between the two is which coast do you want to live on?

Good luck with your outcome.

I would say based on what I am hearing and seeing from people leaving RJ airlines for foreign jobs, a E145 type/time is the best. We got guys bailing out of Eagle for 6 figure Asia and Middle East jobs, they are mostly JR CAPTAINS. Also the only time the time/type helps you is if your the PIC. I have had a few PNCL guys in the jumpseat and it seems to be the same thing, I keep hearing that the E145 type really helps. Had a guy the other day from the CRJ900 going to some Asian job, he was a CA and just quit. Said the same thing.

My point is dont worry about which regional jet will make your resume better. Thats like arguing over what color poop is the most healthiest. Go where you will be happy. I can tell you that $23/hr wont make you very happy. I can also say that not being pay protected will not make you very happy. Basically I am saying DO NOT GO TO REPUBLIC!!!!!

Either Skywest or Xjet, whichever has the easiest commute.

At my current airline, we have new pilots from virtually EVERY regional airline....except SkyWest. I have not talked to, or heard of anyone at all from SkyWest....there is some reason for that.

Your life will be considerably better living in domicile, commuting sucks. I'd make that a strong consideration when choosing.

Which airline would be best to get ORD right out of training between Skywest and Expressjet, along with shortest reserve time? I submitted my app but won't be available until March.
