Is that just an ExpressJet jumpseat rule? I have ridden on UAL/CAL in the last few months internationally and I don't have UAL Bennies. IN THE BACK of course!
Just got to the Hub Airport early..(IE: EWR 3 hours prior)
-Went to the main ticket counter our front. They got me listed
-Then went to the gate at least 60mins prior
-Did the stupid paper form
-Boarded and checked in with the crew.

It is not so much an ExpressJet rule as it is a United software limitation in how their system handles jumpseats on express carriers. The United software allows for an electronic listing for mainline flights but not on express flights, which means they can accept international jumpseaters. There are ways around this limitation as ExpressJet pilots can jumpseat internationally on their own flights, as long as a listing is made through their company, but to avoid any penalties or fines it is easier to say no international jumpseating than to try and verify an appropriate listing has been made.
