Very true. I think it will pass too. In the past xjt has had a history of very low voter turnout but hopefully not this time. I would like to see it voted down but as we all have seen time and time again, pilots talk tough but then can't back it up.

How DID that little gem get in there? That and having to call for release from duty at the end of every reserve trip is SkyWest management's wet dream.

We've always had to do that... however the contract stipulates that this phone call cannot result in a junior assignment or an extension.
Basically it's used as the last ditch effort to tag you with ready reserve early the next day!
We have NEVER had that language! They put that in our new FOM and we just ignore it. They tried the same thing with checking in. Just ignored.

Time to fire ALPA and start a new inhouse SKYW/Expressjet/ASA union. I wish you guys nothing but unity and strength. Whatever you guys decide on, if you take concessions our company will use that in our negotiations and make us at least match yours.. so I hope you guys and girls stay strong.

Like someone else said on here, remember... No regional can replace 'our' (SkyWest Inc.) flying... United and Delta would go crazy in days if all 7200 of us decided enough is enough...

This will only happen if Skywest pilots vote in their own union. Until then, the whipsaw will continue.

If you were to read the union bullet points and skim this TA, you'd probably think it sounded pretty good for a concessionary contract. I think that is our biggest obstacle to convincing most yes voters to reconsider.

Once you dig into the language of the TA you find that it is massively concessionary for ASA.

From the removal of the duty rig (YES this matters under Part 117 despite what ALPA may say), to no pay for alternate deadheads on the back end, to the gutting of PBS (15 hour window?! Say goodbye to ANY control over your schedule whatsoever) and gutting of reserve rules (half your golden days are gone, CS can change your on call period anytime they want, etc etc). Moving expenses were slashed. Vacation worthless. No furlough clause gone. Work til 0400 on your day off? AYFKM?

Read this thing line by line. It will negatively affect the QOL and paychecks of every pilot on the list, especially the junior guys. Read it and educate those who have only read the ALPA propaganda.

To those who say we can't get a better deal: "yes we can." It's the contract we've currently got.

Seriously. Why vote something in that is worse than what we have? What is the incentive? Where is the offer of something in exchange? Are they nuts? "hey, take this worse contract, but there is nothing in it for you!" Nah, I like my current contract. Anyone that votes for this is a spineless, blithering idiot! You are just handing away pay and quality of life, FOR NOTHING!

HVAA 11-28-2013 12:07 PM

jeez...you guys are really pi ssed.
Keep up the good work...spread the word...vote NO!

CaptainNameless 11-28-2013 12:47 PM

I have been at LXJT almost 14 years. No thank you to this TA. We are pilots, not slaves. I guess now it's just a game of can they continue to run the company before too many people leave.

I second the idea to boycott the *******ing roadshows. Let them sit there and wonder why no one came to listen to them.

afterburn81 11-28-2013 07:45 PM

It's very strange. The only people that speak up about their vote being yes are afraid of something.

None say "well this over here and that over there are an improvement so why not?"

It's always some cowardly response. Like I'm afraid if we don't vote yes the company will tank.

When the hell did anyone even say that? I mean it's never even been officially said from ALPA or the Company. At least not to my knowledge. The thing that sucks is that all of these yes voters are going to keep thinking that until someone comes out tells them otherwise. Which will never happen.

YEP! That is correct.

No sense in touching this thing. Seems the company is a bit scared and that pilots have the upper hand at this point in my opinion.

No Trip Rig or Dead Head Pay if one takes a different flight, right!

NO VOTE for sure!
