Expressjet interview question
Does anyone know what the brown diamonds, drift down lines from the airway, and brown mountain waves mean on the mexicn enroute charts? Also, any other weird symbols I should be aware of that are not the norm to U.S. charts? I would look it up myself, but I don't have access to any. Thanks

You're better off not worrying about that kind of stuff. The interviewers do not expect you to know everything. If you haven't been flying 121 into terrain areas, you probably wouldn't know that kind of stuff. "I'm not sure what that is" is a good thing to say sometimes in an interview. That at least shows you are teachable and don't think you're Chuck Yeager.
Study the regs under which you now fly, the systems and procedures of the aircraft you now fly and you'll be fine. Be humble, be honest, and don't be a douche. And for hell's sake bring your paperwork EXACTLY how they want it or you won't have to bother with any questions. Good luck on the interview. Watch out for the HR people.......they shoot poisonous venom and will aim for your eyes.

Oh man I was 121 before my interview and I botched up my Villermahosa Vor approach pretty good, she laughed and was like Joe, "You obviously know how to fly an approach, just relax and tell me again, slowly! what you would do." If you screw up no biggie they just want to get to know you I mean You should know where to find the Trans Alt/level and the difference but if you don't admit it, your only human. Also tell them you know SAABaroowski the Great they will surely give you a class date haha Good luck let us know how it goes

The brown routes on the jepp charts are Drift-down/Terrain clearance dispatch routes. Meaning that if you are filed over those routes you must be dispatched under either:
1. Terrain Clearance (If you lose an engine, terrain clearance will still be assured)
or
2. Drift-Down (If you lose an engine, you will proceed to one of your driftdown alternate airports because you won't be able to maintain the required terrain clearance)
