Sure about that? That is not how I read it.

Yes, I'm sure. From the FCIF...

c) In preparation for the Secondary Line Upgrade, where the Secondary Lines will be built based on seniority and not line number order

What did you read?

You did not post the entire paragraph.

I read it as the changes made are in anticipation of when this happens. We shall see, I bid the last VTO and can hold higher. I could be wrong. I bid the last line to get R days instead of trips for the middle VTOs.

I guess i'm not getting how this is changing anything. Let's say I bid lines 2001-2050, then secondaries's 5001-5010, then whatever. Under the new system, I still bid lines 2001-2050, then top 5 secondaries's, then whatever. What has changed? When I check the bid award now, secondary lines 5001-50xx have all been awarded in seniority order. Are there instances when a junior guy gets line 5001 instead of a more senior guy? I've never seen that, and I check every month. I'm not understanding what the upgrade is.

If someone forgets to bid, they get to put in preferences for a secondary line in seniority order. Also, look at what USMCFDX said. He bid a lower VTO hoping to get all reserve even though he could hold a mid VTO. He could ask for all reserve, but IF they build in seniority order and there are still a lot of trips left, he may get trips instead because it is just a request.

With the new system, as I understand it, when they start to build in seniority order the blocks of reserve will be available to the #1 VTO. This will eliminate the need for me to bid the last VTO to get R days.

Currently they do not assign reserve until all/most trips are assigned. The last VTO has a much higher chance of all R days. New system will allow R days to be assigned to higher # VTO's.

Well, let us all know how this works out after the VTO's are published and whether you got the reserve you wanted or got trips that you didn't want.
