Looks like FedEx has come out with a pathway of their own now. I know it's super new (like just a few hours old from this writing), but I was curious what current employees think about it. And I mean that in the sense of whether or not there will be a big advantage to choosing an airline such as MAC over say a more traditional regional airline like Endeavor or Envoy. They say they are going to give preference to the pathway guys as far as interviews, so does that mean that the feeder ATR time is better than jet PIC in their eyes? Honest question as someone who is trying to make his first step in this career that will hopefully end up at FedEx.

No one here knows what the suits think, the suits dont even know what the suits think until the lawyers tell them what to think. Those are all good questions that we can guess at the answers over the next ten years.

So they’d rather take an ab inito college grad with a 2.5 gpa before an atlas pilot that’s been doing the same job multiplied times 3 for the last decade? Pass me what they’re smoking.

Default The real reason

“To assist the feeder operator in its efforts to recruit high-quality, well-trained candidates.”....says all you need to know.

It’s a recruiting tool. Seems like a good idea.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Their feeders need pilots (like all regionals), so they are just trying to put that big name FedEx stamp on it and throw a few "guaranteeds" in there to help feeder recruiting.

Trouble is how much it is going to matter that they will look at feeders first before external applicants. Even in that promise, the question arises: who are the external applicants you are passing? Naturally lots of uncertainty about it now. I'm going to stick to the regional jets and trust they will still value jet PIC by the time I get there haha

You’re not getting it . . . the pilot shortage at their feeders seems to be starting to hit their bottom line so they’re now throwing a “guaranteed interview” carrot to try and make feeders more attractive to pilots who want to eventually fly for purple.

...without the feeders having to offer terms of employment which make them attractive in their own right.
