BS, 60% of us probably have at least 200+ hours of MakeUp in our bank. Some guys have over 1000hrs in their bank. Only about 25% of the crew force are not capable of picking up trip because they don’t have any makeup time.

Impressive that you have such specific knowledge of the crew force's makeup bank. Sounds like you haven't accounted for the fact that hundreds of the newly hired pilots have very little in their banks because they haven't had time to accumulate it. Or the people that are saving their makeup banks for when they upgrade or want to work much harder. But it sounds like you are supporting people's ability to work unlimited hours (very rare to even find a way to get close to the FAR limit here), so they can hire less. Great. I'd imagine most people would not agree that is a good idea.

For sure. But he certainly enjoys pretending that he does. I guess it's harmless, as long as people realize that.

The fact is there are limits on the amount of open time because it helps the pilots as a whole. If you drop your whole month you will find it a lot harder to make it back up if there is no bank. We have make up banks because we want it not because the company wants it that way.

But this doesn’t have to be true. You can let someone drop trips and still limit them to pick up trips up to their original line value plus 12 hours.
