You argument earlier in the thread for keeping our current bid system (bid in order to bid), is that we lose fast upgrades. Other airlines, including delta, shows that not to be the case.

Let’s face it, the system we are stuck with right now is due to the fact that it gives management way more control than competing systems. The paint point in our system is abrogation of seniority, which other competing systems seem to mitigate a lot better. So let’s look at them, all.

DL has long large bids like FDX. Most airlines have fast upgrades currently. Our mega bid system allows larger movements to higher paying seats quicker. I could care less if we kept our current system or not. Simply saying no system is without it’s warts. Is it really something we want changed over the numerous other things? It has worked for me changing numerous airplanes and bases.

Dude you need to stop with the blatantly wrong info. DL does not have long large bids like FDX. They’ve had multiple bids since our last bid. They also get passover pay. Our mega bid system does not allow people to get to high paid seats quicker because we gave up passover pay.

Yeah, it’s definitely something to look at changing among a lot of other things. This current negotiations we asked to change a couple dozen specific items. So I don’t see why this couldn’t be at least one of another couple dozen items to improve for next round.

Hey man, as I stated previously, DL has moved from large bids to smaller, more frequent bids. And guess what, they still have jr NB/WB upgrades. Call one one of your buddies from DL and ask.

They upgrades will still happen at the same rate no matter what since demand will not change.

DL’s system is like ours from the discussion I have had with buddies at DL. The company decides the duration of the bid. If they have decided to do a shorter bid period it was the companies decision. Not a contractual requirement.

Our last bid happened a year after the prior one. Even though originally it was stated it would be a 18-20 month bid.

As I stated i’m all for changes but not at the expense of higher priorities such as pay, retirement, deviation bank fixes, scope improvements, revision improvements, etc. I looked again in the openers document on the contract page and don’t see this in the openers. Im guessing in the surveys many didn’t have this as a priority either since it is not in the openers.

They could just make the monthly training bid, The system bid. No real need for a bid within a bid like we do now.
