I’m curious, what are the ‘rumblings’ from the non-pilot managers? Not disputing anything you are attempting to say. Just curious.

I agree with you in that I don’t think FDX is entirely bullet proof and frankly I find many, especially more senior guys, naive on our vulnerabilities as far as a profitable business.

That being said, I’m not sure the sky is falling yet. I do think the FDX of today seems to be more affected by the volatiles of the economy both Internationally and Domestically.

But, I’m curious of the j/s rumors.

I’ll be honest, from the rumors I’ve heard in regards to the 767 and ETOPS. ETOPS is a big deal to the company and perhaps goes along with the statements of finding new international business.

I heard that we were losing money out our a$$(express INTL) from a maint manager that’s been on my JS more than a few times in last three months. That’s the rumblings.

I agree the sky isn’t falling yet but think we need to open our eyes.

We start negotiations soon, so all this gloom and doom tactics starting early. They’ll come after all they can get from us including our retirement. After the TA get Ratified it will be business as usual.

The whole key to this is "How much was Amazon being charged to ship on FedEx?" I sure don't know and I am pretty sure nobody on this forum (Master's degree or not) knows what they were paying.
Bingo, FedEx is dumping Amazon and going after the competitors of Amazon. Amazons sun has risen and I think will be on a downswing as major retailers move to seriously compete in internet sales. I see it as sort of funding our enemies foes. I sometimes use Amazon but the shipment hardly ever arrives on time and you have yo be very careful of counterfeit items. The government needs to go after Amazon for knowingly selling counterfeit items.

EVERY analyst is expressing concern over the Express business, namely the shift to lower cost, equally reliable service, aka Ground, Freight, etc. EVERY analyst is concerned about the over reliance on the Express side, the fixation of Fred on the air side, and the reality that the Ground/Freight side is the future, fast but “cheaper”. If not for the across the board industry retirements, I would be concerned about joining Fedex, company that has not quite “adapted” to changing trends in the industry. To be clear, Fedex will be just fine, as a company, but they will have to adapt to the vertical integrated model, or it will not go well, only time will tell.

So the Amazon plants that sprinkle the same recycled articles into the financial press (Motley Fool, I’m looking at you) to cheerlead Amazon’s shipping ventures and cast gloom onto FDX/UPS have made their way to APC. Amazon ALWAYS makes their deliveries (regardless of who’s actually delivering it)?? Laughable to point of absurdity. I’m ashamed to admit how many Amazon parcels show up at my house every week but let’s just say it gives me a good sample size from which to draw anecdotal evidence. I would estimate 60% make it on time, but often times by the hand of “some guy” in a street vehicle as late as 11:30pm. Another 35% are anywhere from a day to 5 days late (but Amazon almost always shows them as “delivered” in their tracker without indicating who is actually handling the parcel) and the remaining 5% disappear into the ether. When one talks in absolutes that his listeners immediately can disprove, well let’s just say that mars credibility. And OBTW, I live in a city of 5M+.
