We now have an option to turn down flying in China.
I don’t blame our captains for denying Jumpseats.
I have seen our guys over in Asia and they are not all being safe.
Why should any captains risk their the health of themselves and their crew and risk bringing this home to their families by authorizing Jumpseats if one has been in mainland China?
Somehow the mentality is that Fedex crewmembers are exempt to catching the coronavirus.
it’s just plain wrong that they pay more to put us in unsafe conditions. And if we don’t go, our sick banks or vacation banks get hit if we want a paycheck.
Unfortunately, guys will go for a few extra bucks.
How can all this be legal?

So what if all the other airlines decide to deny JumpSeat to any crew member who’ve been to China in the last 14 days? How are we supposed to get back and forth to work?
in all honesty this entire thing is crazy and could get worst. Even if crew member haven’t been to China, he/she may have joined a crew who had been to China and can/may have contracted the virus through there peer. How do we screen these 2nd, 3rd or 4th hand infected crew.
If a crew member elect not to fly to mainland China or HKG, I think the company should try their best to ensure that crews are not being mixed or peered up with others who’ve actually been on mainland China.

Look at how many have died outside of Wuhan or without connection to Wuhan. Denying people jumpseats because they’ve been to China seems a little far fetched....Better not come to AOC at all. Think of all those guys in there who have been to China! Touching computers....using sleep rooms. In the jumpseat lounge even! Ban all jumpseats, cease all flying! Get to the bunker!!!

This is a sticky situation for sure. Hopefully guys form a plan of action after looking at the best available information put out by health experts. Denying jumpseats is a bit much. However, there are many factors weighing on guys minds. In my case I think about coming home to the wife who then goes and teaches 23 first graders.

I wonder if the denying jumpseats thing is just a rumor, and isn't actually happening. I can understand foregoing a handshake, but not a ride home. The reality is, if it's that easy to spread and our pilots are getting the disease, it's already all over Memphis ops anyways.

One of the best pieces of advice I got as a newbie. After using a computer in AOC, go wash your hands. Especially important during cold/flu season

Not saying anyone should be denied JS if they are fit to fly, but the irony would be if guys are being denied JS on the A300. Sitting back there already feels like being quarantined!

What are the rules for after you get back to the usa and are still within the 14 day window after having been to mainland china? If one has a domestic deadhead but has been to mainland China in last 14 days, will travel be allowed as a regular passenger with a ticket?
Thanks if anybody has any information about this.
