If already in the field, cite your safety concerns with the DO and ask to be removed from the China leg—you’ll be put in EMG (emergency) status and your trip is over immediately —then catch a jumpseat home. Credit hours for activities removed are supposed to go to your general makeup bank or you can elect to use vacation credit hours (via email) IAW CBA 25.L.13 and 7.A.11–stay safe out there!

You definitely don't want to be saying this face to face to someone trying to test you in China. We've already had one 777 crew member have his China visa removed from his passport for refusing.

They held a UPS woman pilot down and forcibly nasal swabbed her and punctured her nasal cavity to the point she was bleeding. One of our well respected Captains witnessed it. I am told that after that happened, both FedEx and UPS threatened to pull out of the "virus originating country".

When we told PVG customs we are refusing the test and stby, we need to make a phonecall, they had no problem and let us take our time. No forcing us to do anything. DO supported our decision to refuse testing initially and was working to get us out of there. Then we had time to re-assess, and agreed to get tested. So again, no pressure, no ripping of visas out of passports, no holding us down to get swabbed...

No my main concern is that I have a ANC-TPE (RF2) leg & don't wait to get to TPE & then get the ahhh... we have something special for you. CAN hotel standby... Oh No, I plan to be like Barney Fife, "Nip it Andy, you got to nip it in the bud!"

Question: Had you gone down the other limb of the decision tree (refusing testing) what were you told the procedures would be (to "get you out of there")?

Yes, read my initial post. We told them no, called DO, who started working on getting us out of there. Never finalized the plan though because we decided to go through with testing. Have to say that no plan was in place to get us out, and a plan was not created as far as I know.

Copy. I was hopeful there was a prepared plan in place like: "We'll get you on the Fedex van and away from Chinese officials, and put you on a jumpseat leaving to XXXX in the next few hours". Wishful thinking. Hopefully someone else will press to test the "no test" route...

Just a lurker and out of my lane.. how come FedEx doesn’t have an agreement to have a contracted and vetted doc perform the test on FedEx crews exclusively?
Seems like that would be a win for the company and the crews. Would just need to get the authorities to agree, I’m sure FedEx can find a way to twist some arms.
