It is definitely a points based system, however, some things might change the number of points assigned. Now when a doctors note is required, you go through the insite system and have a “conversation” with both company medical and management, though I doubt management gets much into the conversation. You submit your note to company medical, they ignore it for a week until you repetitively send them messages asking if they got it, and then if they decide it’s adequate, they assign you one point for the sick event. At last that’s my understanding. Don’t know how many points (if any) is assigned to a Covid event.

If you provide a note, you should get zero points.

This entire note business is really insulting!!!

I totally agree. Every time I ask for a note, my doctor chuckles about how we have to get notes like a grade schooler.

How do you know it’s one point? Where can one see their points?

You get a crew notification that says something like your sick note has been accepted, and the event has been assigned one point.

What kind of info or detail is required in these sick notes? Is a more in-depth note required for access to your DS bank?

The only thing my doctor ever writes is that I am under their care, and projects I should be able to fly on XX date. HIPAA rules, I don’t know if they’re even allowed to write more than that.

Never needed a note to access DS bank, but was always willing to give a short explanation of the sick issue. I know some people are uncomfortable sharing that information, but it doesn’t bother me.

If you have a chronic condition , get your Doc to place that on your sick note, it will keep mgmt. posted and give them the option of not requiring you to present a sick note every time you go sick .................. for the same issue

If the company requires a note from the doc, shouldn’t the company be liable for any out of pocket expenses related to that doctor’s visit? There are many things that can temporarily make us unfit to fly, that don’t normally require a doctors visit. Perhaps the contract should dictate who picks up the tab (company). If it were a cost to the company, maybe there’d be no point system, or grade school like treatment.
