Default Doctor's note?

Thank your fellow pilots who can't seem to follow the rules. Just like guys now think they can leave the hotels in Japan to hit the 7-11.

Like wind shear said, the contract can (should) specify that the company pay the cost of getting a doctor note. As for having health care coverage, the contract specifies what percentage of the premiums the company pays. The company paying for doctor notes is no the case right now, but it can be changed with new contact language.

Yea that is all true to a point, but the fact is the Union should have addressed this in past negotiations instead of letting it fester and then the company gets their way via Arbitration , of which we all know has mostly resulted in the Company winning. You guys pay ALPA a lot of $$$ to represent you, keep their feet to the fire and demand better representation.
I am not bad mouthing the Union, but you guys ARE the Union , make sure the electorate do a better job for you.

You submit your note to company medical, they ignore it for a week until you repetitively send them messages asking if they got it, and then if they decide it’s adequate, they assign you one point for the sick event. At last that’s my understanding. Don’t know how many points (if any) is assigned to a Covid event.
FYI... I just received 1 pt. VIPs crew notification for my COVID19 close contact event plus a phone call from my Fleet Manager. I called in SCK on VIPs and I called the DO. Had a jovial non threatening conversation with Fleet Manager. I'm in a 14 days quarantine and placed on a NOQ ADM. No biggie.

You were penalized one point because you were exposed to someone with COVID-19 beyond your control?

That sounds like retaliation for taking sick leave lawfully and is probably illegal.

How is this any different than say, contracting influenza? Isn’t that beyond our control as well? I’m not trying to say that the system is fair, on the contrary.

Sincerely asking... do you know you got a point? Does anyone know or actually have a way to track this?

Since this program rolled out it has always been vague... do we know if it is even still in effect?

1. The stated policy of the company is that you should not call in sick unless you are going to see a doctor about it.
2. I don't go to the doctor for colds.

Not following, are you saying you fly when you have a cold? Or are you saying you don’t follow company policy? What do you do when you do have a cold?

I don't give a flying ******* that the "illustrious" SCP BM came up with a Sick Tracking System, nor how it is applied with that grade-school level point system meant to intimidate us from using sick leave.

I go by the FAA's regs and do not fly sick.

...and I never go to a Dr. except for my Class 1. It has never been an issue for me at FDX, nor at previous carriers for that matter. If the DO or anyone harasses you on sick leave, involve the FAA, they'll stop that BS immediately.

Urban Rumor: If you go to the doctor for a note and share a giggle at the inanity of it all..make sure he takes the time to actually record in your records what ailment you were suffering (especially if you phone it in). The "under my care" works fine on the note, but the company can subpoena your medical records if they suspect foul play. Another reason a note from your neighbor the doctor (a veterinarian) isn't a good idea...
