TonyC for Block 2 Rep
#11
If OUR union wants better vote participation, something has got to change.
I repeatedly log on to the ballot and then ultimately close it when I realize that I know absolutely nothing of substance about any of these candidates. A few letters saying that "I will work for our best interests" and, "the bidpacks are getting worse" just doesn't do it. I would like to see each candidate write specific responses to a standardized series of questions that would allow me to compare and contrast their positions. As it stands, we might as well throw darts at a board.
Tony may be the only candidate for anything whose positions are truly known.

Dude, write the questions and submit them to the candidates. That's on YOU bro. Do you want the union writing those questions if you currently don't trust or like where the union is currently going?

Its so much easier to just get on the internet and biatch into the keyboard.
Interesting observation I had reading this thread. I keep hearing complainers on this forum say “we need new blood”. Well guess what, every year the MEC gets new blood because of term limits and turnover. This thread was started by someone I think who has previously been a union representative just a year ago and previous to that a few year’s ago. I only see two names or 1 on many nomination ballots. If you find yourself complaining all the time why are YOU not running or volunteering? If you are not volunteering then in my opinion you have no right to criticize those who do. You can vote and give input but criticism is something you don’t get to lob when you are to lazy.
Some of the most notorious posters on this page should step up. Show us how brilliant you are and how you could do better. Volunteer
We are in negotiations. Its time for us to support the union. We are all depending on them. They are us and we are the union.

I think by now most know who I am and what I stand for. This thread is interesting. The uncertainty some are projecting says a lot about how the MEC is not leading and how we are not demanding they do their union jobs. Conflict, even at the lowest level, is hard. But unless you are willing to leave 10s of thousands of dollars a year on the table for the rest of your life, it is time to get involved. In fact you are late to the game. The reason People like TonyC step up is because they know what is at stake and are willing to fight for best value. TonyC has been serving his fellow pilots both out loud and quietly for decades. His selflessness inspired me to volunteer.
It's funny to see the people who say we have to unite around them without stating their positions. When debate is squelched by union leadership, we all loose. And that is happening, out loud, right now. TonyC is trying to give you a voice at the table. His selflessness is rarely matched. Yet those who's ideas can't stand up to much criticism fear the debate people like TonyC would bring to the table.
I realize most will not go and read the job description for block rep, but if you did, you would find they hold all the responsibility for your best interest. They are accountable. Period. Not the officers, not the SMEs, not the rest of the volunteers, the Reps and only the Reps are responsible. Selecting them is your responsibility. Both candidates for block 2 have put their contact info out. Take a minute and contact them like so many others have and learn where they stand, and if they will not tell you where they stand, why would you vote for them?
TonyC's position's are well established. Right now we need proven leaders who will stand strong for your best interest. PSPP was not in your best interest in '18 so I voted against it. I doubt it has improved to the level needed to get my vote, but there is the rub, the MEC is not putting anything out about their vision except platitudes, seem familiar? Same song as '15. It did not work then, why should it work now? I encourage you to show up to the rally on the 7th. Yes I expect some to jumpseat in, after all it is your contract.
With all that said, this is not a personality contest. I like both candidates and count them among my friends. Right now we need strong leadership at the table. TonyC has a proven record. TonyC is not backed by the Cabal, and he knows the games they will play to get their way. TonyC is beholding to you, the member, and only you the member.
A vote for TonyC is a vote for proven leadership and a vote against the Cabal.
It's your contract, and it's your vote. Spend it wisely.

Brian, as usual, that was well said. Tony has been honest and forward regarding his position. I, too, like the other candidate, but I voted for Tony.
Why? Because he has made his position clear, and will stand up to the "go along to get along" crowd which controls the MEC.
The pancake plan, in any form, is an automatic "no" vote from me if it is in the TA. I just hope there are enough of us so it doesn't barely pass, like last time. We saw how bad that turned out. I hope we can learn from our mistakes.

She was just endorsed by another on the MEC. She will be more of the same. Tony C is the only one I know who is not willing to go along with group think and the MEC lockstep pancake plan.
