Vaccinated folks that refuse to report their vaccination status are doing it on principle. They are bravely defending our freedom. You can count on them to hold that hill…stand their ground as principled patriots…right up until they are told they are a close contact in a location or time they don’t want to be quarantined. Along the way, sure they might get a good deal block of paid time off but that’s their reward for being proud patriots defending your rights. (Cue that country song “Freedom Isn’t Free” and pan the camera to Old Glory with a sunset in the background….break to commercial for Balance of Nature).

Also get repetitive crew notifications to “please” input your vaccine info…but not responding to that feels much the same. It gets the same result. NQN or a quarantine period whether that be at home or in a hotel somewhere. Hopefully TPE.

ALPA’s letter seemed to be clear last week that they agree for operational reasons you would need to disclose. Such as being sent to a country requiring vaccination or being placed in different hotels based on vaccination status. Those as well as first hand contact tracing seem to be apparent operational necessity issues.

“Yesterday, management released FCIF 21-00635 as a Vaccination Tracking update. As previously communicated, ALPA understands and agrees there may be valid operational reasons for the Company to ask your vaccination status. Those questions should be answered in a timely manner. However, ALPA is reviewing the FCIF for compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.”

If you are placed in NQN I think that may be a grievance so may be worth reaching out to the grievance committee if that does happen.

Yes. Yes it would be.

^ This. And they'll whine about being stuck somewhere too. All while screwing a vaccinated individual into a revision or extension they didn't bid for as a line holder. Ask me how I know. Majority of pilots at FedEx are vaccinated, so I'm not sure what hill they're trying to die on, besides screwing their fellow pilot.

This. How is this okay? To have a single departure line and then have multiple sub windows to sit if one doesn’t want to lose their pay.

Obviously this omicron doesn’t discriminate vaccinated or not so this seems so dangerous to have guys close contact with positive covid contact and then flying domestically possibly still infecting other guys.

Yep. I also think that if it was no longer a free vacation and they make you pony up some sick leave for a “cLoSe CoNtAcT”, those calls would drop dramatically. I refuse to believe some guys aren’t abusing this policy.

Sub is one of the worst parts of the contract and needs to be eliminated entirely. These situations should be a perfect illustration of why.

What do you mean how is this OK? The company doesn’t make the other countries rules.

So you’re saying the company should just pay this pilot to sit home all month and do nothing when he is still able to fly other trips? What are you smoking. How would we even be able to run an airline if that’s the position we took with the amount of Covid positives and firsthand contacts we’ve had over the last week.
