For your max Defined Benefit of $130,000 (25 years x $5,200) that would be a $52,000/year increase per pilot. I don’t think any company can absorb that type of increase. Deserved? Of course, and then some. But realistic? No, especially considering wages need big time improvement as well. But as my colleague mentioned, we are ALL rooting for Purple!!
Please don’t come to the FDX thread and tell us what isn’t realistic…especially if you are truly rooting for FDX pilots.

Tell us where the Union “said” the Company wants. 4 but ALPA asked for 6 years. We would love to see that. Let me guess - you heard it somewhere and don’t have time to look it up.
I’m fairly certain you are a Management tool sowing your false facts. If not, you are clearly an anti- Union Pilot and again don’t support our efforts to gain contractual improvements.

Nightliar at it again! That’s as ridiculous and inaccurate as your prior statement about the Union running out of money.

Frankly, I don't like being called "Nightliar". If you want to call me that, fine, but I will block you and no longer respond to your posts. I am sure you will come back with a snippy retort to that, and that's fine. I am trying to have an intelligent discussion and you are calling names. Who's the child here?
I have been here a long time. I remember many things the union has done that I didn't like, hence my skepticism. $25,000 VEBA money for the guys who later on got moved back up to the left seat from the back without a real bid, for example. Yes, the company manipulated the bids, but you can bet the union was in on it.
I am not a management tool. Far from it. I am critical of the union when they deserve it. We wasted a million dollars on a stupid retirement plan that few, if any, people want. Yet the leadership puts out bogus surveys that don't ask the questions they don't want answered. That's poor leadership, and I will call them out on it.
There seems to be a lot of revisionist history on this board. The younger pilots don't know what to believe. Sounds like the same thing going on with national politics. We are constantly being gas lighted by those in power, both those nationally, and those in the union leadership.
I will continue to push back and make posts based on my recollections. You may choose to believe me or not. If you have evidence to refute what I say, feel free to post it.
To the new pilots voting on your first contract: read the TA. Listen to both sides. The union isn't always correct, as we learned painfully with lie flat seats. Listen to some of the guys who present the alternative view. Then make the decision that is best for you.
In 2015, we refused to split the retirement plan, to prevent splitting the crew force. Now, we are planning to do just that with PSPP. The older guys won't have any time left to benefit from the new plan. I have flown with young pilots, who basically said, "there are so many of us, we will decide the next contract". I pointed out that we looked out for them in 2015, and they should not screw us on this next one.
I am entitled to my opinion, as you are to yours. We can have a rational discussion, or not, it's up to you.

Yeah but I personally don’t want others coming here putting their own ideas of what is reasonable or not. That is up to us. I personally wouldn’t go to others forums and tell them what I think is reasonable for them to negotiate regardless if it actually is unreasonable. I believe it’s not professional. And I think it might “poison” the water, especially if that person’s belief of what is reasonable actually isn’t.
But whatever. We live in a day and age where people don’t care about telling others what their business should be or shouldn’t be. I asked nicely. Hopefully he takes my advice since no one can actually force him to stay out.

Speaking of revisionist history, this is not what the union has said. I asked the MEC Sec/Trs in person at the time that rumor came out. You can ask him as well. He is still in the same position.
