Good grief. Can’t believe hotel employees are stupid enough to go along with this! Anybody busting into my room in the middle of the night is getting a lamp upside the head. And I’ll be naked, too.

The most recent one was a female pilot on layover in Aachen just a few days ago. They are doing it when they want to revise a pilot earlier but the pilot has not responded to a message left on their personal phone. It used to be that the company notified us of schedule revisions by a note under the hotel room door, not sure why they feel empowered to now invade our rooms while we're asleep? This has happened at hotels in Paris and Aachen and maybe others. I think this is obviously way out of line; I think it ought to be considered an intrusion and needs to reported to the local police.

In response, I just bought a portable door lock called Addalock, after reading an article about it a year ago in the Washington Post. They are available from Amazon for $18. There are also Chinese knockoffs available on Amazon for $12 but I suggest you buy an original. (I have no stake in the company, I just think when it comes to personal safety, I want the original tool. The original is made by Rishon Enterprises in Canada.

I know the union was notified about at least one of these room invasions but apparently nothing happened because the company is still doing it. Until some hotel staff gets beat up by a pilot surprised by an intruder in their hotel room, or we make it painful for the hotel by reporting this to the police, the company will see this as a tool available to them. Complaining to management is a waste of time because they obviously don't care about our personal safety.

Protect yourselves from hotel invasion. Report it to the local police. Notify the union and management after you have submitted your police report.
Status quo violations one after another

Heard on my last trip that the company is also calling hotels and having them turn off our keycards. When we go to the front desk to get them reset we get the "Oh yes, I have this note from crew scheduling for you."

just say no, I won’t take the message. I need to get into my room for rest. What is the hotel gonna do? Chase you down the hall and read it aloud….I guess that is likely now. But still not an acceptable way to give a revision.

If it’s not on or before block in. Don’t do it. Stay off PFC on a layover if you can help it. why help them out?

Sleep naked and then file a sexual assault attempt with the police. Should end that program real quick...and the police report will get you out of the trip.

At least in the US, someone tries to go into my room without my permission, well, it will not end well.

We should all throw darts at anyone in our company recommending a purchase on Amazon. I want to throw up.
