I’m not effected in this situation this time but I hope all are aware of what is currently happening. Many of you were told to go to a hotel and wait for scheduling to contact you (through PFC comm, not direct) Does that count as release from duty? Were you actually released from duty? Management and/or ALPA should have been all over this to provide clarification. There are going to be hundreds of ASAP reports. The FAA is going to be very interested and will investigate. (I’ve worked with the FAA/FSDO extensively in the past) Make sure you received legal rest after going 16+ hours on duty before accepting a new trip. The company can put a letter in your file; the FAA can pull your certificate. Choose wisely. Neither will have your back if you make the wrong decision.

at the very least, our union leaders should have been all over this high-profile event. what the h3ll are we paying them for? we fly the freight, and pay our “leaders” to have our backs. the same “leaders” who should be educating the crew force as to what to expect should negotiations fail. these flight-pay-loss commandos who are at home right now with their families, NC included! while us schmucks are spending xmas eve at the Holiday Inn. there ain’t no chimney at the Holiday Inn. how is Santa supposed to bring me all the $hit that I asked for when I sat on his lap at the mall? I digress, our “leaders “ are, and always have been, reactionary: do what the company tells you to do, and if you think it’s wrong, grieve it later, we may or may not help you with the process.

this is the best we got among 5500 of us? but then again, biden is our prez.

no concessions. our leaders don’t like it, fire them all. get the harda$$’$ in like Tony and Brian and yes, Shaman, whoever the h3ll Shaman is.

merry xmas, ya filthy animals!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a grown adult. I don’t need my hand held by the union to tell me when I am fatigued. I have read the numerous union articles on the fatigue call process over the past year. It explains clearly the pay protection and process. Trying to blame someone or something else for your inability to have the fortitude to call in fatigue shows your integrity.

Anthrax is right. Considering our lack of contract and the multitude or cancellations and revisions, it would have been great for FDX ALPA to have all hands on deck with a group of easy to reach people to “check our work” and make sure we don’t do anything illegal and give the company one flipping inch. I can look I things up too but it would have been great to have an easy second set of eyes on things.

no one listens to this lying oddball anymore, who clearly doesn’t understand the definition of integrity, but why would he when he has none?

merry xmas.

Some sort of hotline would be nice. I agree with you on that topic. That is not what Anthrax was asking for. It appears he wanted some sort of directive letter to go out. I think that could be seen as a job action if directing people to do a certain action.

On a separate topic, I remember a few years back an email was sent out for volunteers to staff a contract hotline. I replied interested. Dates for training went out, and everyone scattered it appears, because we then got an email stating not enough people remained to staff it. We now have a DART system that isn’t instantaneous, but generally gets the job done when I have used it.

Max duty times and required rest times are published in the pocket calendar and are simple to calculate. Call the DO and make him/her get your schedule fixed if scheduling hasn’t done it correctly and they don’t fix it. This isn’t a daycare. We can stand up for ourselves like big boys and girls on simple things like duty times and rest periods. If you are fatigued CALL IN FATIGUED. Not that hard.

Aren’t many of these things the role of a Captain who has a spine? To stand up for the crew? Many Captains I have flown with are the opposite. Let’s Get Er Done attitude doesn’t comply with this, so excuses must be made.

Merry Christmas to all the Santa’s and grinches.

Nobody mentioned fatigue except you. Now you have made a straw man argument and are gonna double down on dumb. Yes, everyone knows how to call in fatigued. That was never the subject matter. Being put on a trip without legal rest is way different. If you were a pilot you would understand this.

“Stand up for the crew”? So what would you do if scheduling tells you to go fly because they think you have legal rest (and you’re not fatigued…so you don’t bring that up again) but you don’t calculate the same? Somehow I already know what you’re going to say. You’ll call the union. If by chance you’re lucky enough to get an answer/response in time, I bet they say to fly it because FedEx ALPA doesn’t like to make waves with management.

My whole point was the FAA isn’t going to care what either of those entities say is legal, as you are the pilot and ultimately responsible for your hours. Sure would be nice if something official from either party came out but then that would put the responsibility on said party and neither wants that. So what happens when you make the legal choice and refuse to fly it because it’s a FAR violation in your eyes but not the company’s? You can take that as a rhetorical question because we all know you’re just a keyboard warrior that says one thing while doing the opposite.

Too bad the company won’t negotiate in good faith. No sympathy.
