Default Differences training and vacation

Got an invitation to bid for one of the four available time slots for differences training in my vacation month.

What happens to my vacation if I go to training? Does it get moved to a different month?

Also, heard somewhere that if I bid for three of the four available dates and don’t get them, they will automatically assign me the fourth date that I did not want. Is that correct?

No, that would take effort. Don’t blow his mind and tell him a gouge document exists to answer his exact questions on the union web page.

Maybe I’m not the sharpest tool in the box but for the life of me can’t decipher the CBA lawyer speak:

If someone wouldn’t mind clarifying, would really appreciate it.

Just to make it clear, are you talking about training from the 75 to the 76?

If so, then to answer your first question, if the training touches your vacation, then your vacation goes away and you have a couple of options. One option is to take your vacation at another time. You can take that vacation in any slot where a pilot junior to you has vacation. The other option is to sell the vacation back. No extra if you do that, just 6 hours per day of vacation.

Now, for your second question. If you are the junior pilot on the list, and a slot goes unfilled, you will get assigned that slot. If there are more pilot junior to you than slots available, if you don't get the slot(s) you bid for, you won't get a slot and you will move to the next month that they offer slots to play the game again.

Read the scheduling matters article on union website. It takes the complex and puts it into pilot speak. It’s a must read on numerous topics. I have also used the DART system to get quick answers. The last place I would go for an official answer is APC. Just read the numerous arguments on every topic under the sun. It should become apparent very quickly many people have interpreted many different topics differently.
