Now that the company has exposed their hands on how they intend to utilize our lack of scope provision, I’m more in favor of reopening scope at this time. It makes absolutely no sense getting a contract with scope as it is. I’d rather wait.

Let's take a good look at what has been going on:
Our NC has been receiving below industry leading offers from the company. Our NC has not accepted a below expectation AIP like '15. Our MEC has mostly spent our money wisely. Our Union is not broke like '15. Our MEC is starting to listen to us after receiving massive emails, texts, and calls after the poorly written NC email a few Fridays ago. Our Chair, was given the authority to call for the strike vote in resolution 23-08 in the following manor: "BE IT RESOLVED that the MEC Chair, in consultation with the Negotiating Committee and the Negotiating Support Team is authorized to initiate a Strike Authorization Vote by the membership." Delta, United, AA, Hawaiian, others, have all recognized the value of their pilots. We deliver several times more revenue per flight, air mile flown, per any metric you want to use than our passenger flying fellow pilots. The time has been "now" for a long time. We are here now and it is time to raise the bar, support the strike authorization vote, and except the hardships of attending our council meetings and get engaged. Anything less will ensure an below industry leading TA. It is your choice. And the time is NOW. Let's not repeat '15. Stand strong. Engage. And demand industry leading pay rates. Demand our pension be brought up to the IRS limits. And Demand an industry leading contract. |
Strike AUTHORIZATION vote, right? Different than a full up strike vote from what I understand. But definitely moving in the right direction…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m willing to do what it takes. I just don’t think it would be beneficial signing a contract without proper scope language. However, if the union puts a a strike vote, then so be it.

If we vote yes, the MEC chair can call for a strike at anytime once we are released from the NMB. |
