If ALPA would commit to retroactive retirement and retroactive pay for EVERYONE FORCED to retire since the amendable date, I wouldn't be so concerned about Age 67.
BUT THEY WON'T. Shame on ALPA.
I sat 5 years in the right seat when it switched to 65. It wouldn't hurt you to sit for 2, and if we get a good contract, many, including myself, won't stay any longer than the signing date.
Age discrimination is real. People should be allowed to work until 67 or even 70, if they desire and are in good health, mentally and physically.
If Part 135 can go to 70, there is no reason why part 121/117 can't either. It is just ALPA throwing their older members under the bus.
Canada, where ALPA now represents pilots, goes to 67, as do many other countries. How can ALPA represent pilots that can work until 67, while lobbying against it for US pilots? They are hypocrites.

I’ve been thinking about your post for a few days now and haven’t hit the submit button, but it’s time. You’re also wrong about raising the retirement age. 1 out of 5 guys I fly with in their mid 60s are sharp enough/actually give enough of AF to be there. Flying with a 70 year old would be like driving with Grandpa in his Crown Vic with the blinker on going 48 MPH on the highway. Lets not do that, thanks though.

What branch of ALPA are we talking here? National? Our MEC? You don’t think we have enough to worry about for actual members of the MSL?

You are really clueless.
These guys are NOT brothers and to characterize their activities as mere ‘mistakes’ to be learned from is preposterous. Let’s just set aside, for a moment , the fact that they were stealing from the company. Are you okay with these dopes stealing other pilots back end deadheads? How about having the xparing trip number and date ahead of everyone else loaded up and mashing the button before the trip even hits open time? How about when the scheduler didn’t process trades while waiting for these guys to fix their calendars and or just wait for them to get online to drop priority on everone else? There’s way more to the scam but if you are okay with any of it, then there’s something just plain wrong with your brain.
Rejoicing, of course not. Another ridiculous ASSertation. Most people just aren’t aware how badly these guys have been f####ng everone over, so I’ve simply put it out there. Well, I’ll tell you what, they have definately discovered the meaning of FAFO. So, you’re wrong about that too.
Over and out.
