Of course they are. Why wouldn't they? It's an easy cost cutting measure to legally reduce everyone's pay in the name of saving junior jobs. Except there's no requirement for them to prove it's actually saving anyone's job. Just a vague threat linked to SAM which they've obviously shown that they can manipulate as required. The other option would be for them to go out and seek new business. Nahhhhh!!!! Why do that when they can keep the SAM down, play reindeer games and cry poor during year 3 of contract negotiations.

Who has ever had the requisite "leverage?" Yet they get contracts.

I tell you what those other airlines didn't have, which is their NC working for management.

"They'd never do that!"

Its super easy to furlough when there is no scope, and its CargoJet 777s going ANC-YYZ-MEM.

The NC recently discussed 4A2b items with management. One of them being leaves of absences. But they denied offering leaves of absences despite it being a no cost item to releive any supposed overmanning issue. If they trully were overmanned (looking at furlouging), then why wouldn't they offer a leave of absence package?

Management released an FCIF in early 2009 requesting pilots able to take a leave of absence’s to do so. Difference now is the overmanning is a negotiating tactic and cost saving vehicle.

If they did that, they might be in danger of creating a unified pilot group here in a drawn out contract negotiation.
