Think bigger. Not just CA's. Junior FO's on WB's are likely to get excessed because of the very scenario that you've described.

I don't disagree. I was responsing to the premise that junior pilots in seats aren't protected. That depends on several factors and the example I gave refuted your suggestion. Junior OAK or IND 767 CAs are not in threat of being pushed out of their seats, so they ARE protected. This is not a system wide free-for-all. But, yes, junior FOs on WB could be at risk due to the circumstances.

It looks like they are going to park the excess pilots as FOs on the 757..thus the additional 757 FO slots but negative Capts.

Maybe since there were uber senior pilots in the -11 bases closing in 23-01, it was easy to make blanket statements in the Q&A about not being protected in your junior seat. That may have applied system wide due to the seniority of those being displaced. But it doesn't now. There are very junior pilots in the seats with excesses and they don't have the same options as senior pilots in closing bases did on 23-01. So those who might opt to stand in for those being excessed don't have the same options either. I think we're going around in circles on this. We'll see when the bid closes. My only point is that if no one bids out of IND or OAK CA seats, they you'll see the exact same names there when the bid closes as you do today. |
Think of it as reading a contract........you only need to apply the line items that are applicable to the current situation.
