Default What do they want?

So I’ve been pondering on the latest and previous missive from management. It makes me wonder what they want? I would assume they wouldn’t try direct negotiations unless they want something?

At the flight ops level I’m sure that they want and probably “owe” a retirement improvement to their people who they made deals with to get where they are.

At a higher level, it would seem that we are helping them with their “shareholder over all” goals. Not saying we are going in the wrong direction. But why does the C-suite want a deal?
The only thing I can come up with is scope. They are so upset we didn’t give them their scope clause they are punishing us. I’m not worried with the representation we have. But with the limp dicks of the past, I believe we’d have close to industry rates and improved retirement with TA23 scope or worse.

And what they want doesn’t matter. They are not getting it either way. They can throw all the temper tantrums they want. What’s interesting is, this is only the beginning of their pain, next time we are coming back for an entire rewrite, not a “FedEx rewrite”, a real one that holds water. Like I told the local Memphis regional guy I saw at the airport. We will make this place respectable again.

Hate to break it to you bud, but they are just delaying and saving money while they outsource everything.

They want to provide a story that can justify the actions of the independent contractors among our pilot group. These actions enable the status quo, keep us in 4a2c, and delay any expenditures associated with obtaining a new contract. Shouldn’t take much pondering.

It's been established that 4a2c is not saving them a nickel. Everyone needs to remember, FOR THE REST OF THEIR CAREER, that this is and has been purely punitive. For the next 10, 20, 30 years or whatever you have, remember that they did this because you had the nerve to consider yourself deserving of the compensation of your professional peers.

They want you to be less ****ed off because there’s the false hope of negotiations and when the negotiations are over, they want you to take a side between the VM, the MEC, or the NC. Act accordingly.

AI Overview
Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation and emotional abuse where one person, the gaslighter, attempts to distort another person's sense of reality, memory, and perception to gain control and undermine their confidence. The abuser uses tactics such as denial, lying, minimizing feelings, and questioning the victim's sanity, which makes the victim doubt their own thoughts and feelings and become reliant on the abuser to define reality.

Boy that hits close to home in this case. Sometimes AI is accurate.

They want to seed fear, uncertainty, and doubt in the pilot group so we will be frightened into a TA and CBA that favors *their* terms. Typical union-busting playbook strategy if you know what to look for.

What's sad is that I've shared a cockpit with a few pilots recently who are parroting this same set of talking points from the Company Negotiating Committee updates.

Fortunately they’re the “minority.” I don’t even read the company comms. They’re akin to the North Korean Times.

Could it be your recent colleagues know exactly what to look for and realize how woefully busted their union actually is and, as a result, *their* terms are all that really matters?
