So does that mean 245 retirements total between now and 2014...or 245 total for 2012, and then 245 for 2013 and 2014 combined?

245 between now and the end of 2014.

I think that is purely guys turning 65 in that period. Look at the retirement chart.

Does the testing get done as a group (class) or individually based on availablility?

Thanks All!

In the recent past...

- ~3 weeks between receiving the e-mail and being called to test.
- ~5 days to a month away for days avail to test. You pick a day to test from their list and you could be with a group or by yourself depending on what others select.
- ~ One week to a month away for an interview depending on what the interview schedule is...normally only a few days in one week of the month.
- Once in the pool it is a crap shoot. It isn't first in/first out. Some guys have waited for a few months while others started Indoc in a couple weeks.

Good luck!

Thx for timeline.

It doesn't look like any interviews until January but they were still testing last week.

I know there are interviews scheduled for October. I don't know if these are the last ones for the year and I'm not sure how many are interviewing. At this point I think they're building up the pool for possible classes in 2013. From what I heard there are enough people in the pool for these next two classes, but the pool is still small and they'd like to build it up a bit.

Any word on the status and size of next week's class?

Straight from the SVP of Flight Ops a couple of weeks ago.

Hiring:
FedEx Express is in a very advantaged position in pilot hiring. Our Company is now the most sought after crewmember position in the airline industry – freight or passenger. As the competition for our positions has increased, we are choosing from the very best pilots available. As just one point of comparison, UPS is currently not hiring and still has some pilots on furlough. By contrast we had a new hire class (BI) in August of 22, and in September we had 13 new hires. Going forward we'll decrease hiring as we head toward Peak Season, with only 4 new hires in October, and then another 4 in November. There will be no new hires in December. Please be advised that if you are recommending someone as an applicant, be sure to coach them to fill out the form accurately and completely, leaving no gaps in employment history. Hiring in 2013 and beyond will track with our retirements and marketing demand for the priority sector. We roughly expect 245 pilots to retire during this year and the next two years combined (2013 and 2014).
