...just keep hoping for my bro to get called, as many of us are.

Thanks.

Any insight into CS's question about classes this CY would be most appreciated! I'm currently flying grey jets, but my paperwork has been in for about a year now and I'm curious if the 20 or so new-hires a month is still good information.

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure the class that starts next week will empty the pool.
That being said, I don't know what happened at the last review board last month. I haven't heard of anyone getting a call to interview yet so not sure what's going on over there.

Have a friend who was just hired. They were told maybe an August class but most likely September or October. So it appears the hiring continues. It was also indicated to the pilot group that due to the very large number of retirements over the next decade (almost half the list) that hiring will have to continue. Good luck to all.

Is it possible (/common?) to get an interview at FedEx with a great resume but no connections/recommendations/sponsor/etc?

From everything I've heard from folks at my airline who went there, it is not common....

Actually, they have to interview a % of folks with no internal recommendations. It's a legal thing. What % no one knows for sure. But, not a single person I've recommended has been called (I've got 4 letters in on some highly qualified pilots). This process seems to have very little to do with line pilots recommendations anymore, at least that's my take.

Yeah, sure wish I knew what the formula is. Figure I have a decent shot with recs and personal background but crickets so far...

Yes it is possible, but I personally know 3 or so who were shot down in the interview process after being called without any internals. I'm convinced a recommendation at minimum would have helped make a difference.

On a side note, they seem to finally be following up with those "We might call you for an interview" emails from a few months ago. Some invites for initial testing went out recently.

Word on the street is that there might be some corporate pilot positions pretty soon, Memphis and possibly Pittsburgh (Ground HQ). Pretty much the same requirements to apply.

Not sure where you're coming from with the boxes comments. I was seriously thanking Fedex for looking at us older pilots with experience. Like I said a couple years ago several f/o's with no 121 pic headed to Delta while more experienced people with thousands of hours of pic were passed by.

And not trying to make this a military vs. civilian thread either. It's clear that Fedex can hire very qualified people. A lot of us at my regional put in paperwork when the window opened in Jan 2011 and are patiently waiting our turn.

And yes I am a good guy.

I love how all the "alleged" FedEx pilots on this thread pipe in and smack regional people and FedEx wannabes down like they are the authority on everything with regards to hiring decisions, work ethic, pilot entitlements, resumes, etc. And then the regional guys and wannabes come back with an apology to them! LOL that is classic!

News flash - no matter what FedEx pilot buttoks you kiss, IT WILL NOT HELP YOU ANY MORE TO GET HIRED AT FEDEX. It's all a completely objective points system and the process has changed significantly since the mid 2000 era of sponsors and nepotism.
