Albie, I agree with you here somewhat. What's missing is the schedule, pay, and domicile of a junior FO at United, Delta, American, etc to make a true comparison. Are they flying cross country red eyes? Does their hourly rate jump from $65 an hour to $125? Do they have 4a2b to PROTECT (yes, it can be interpreted as such) them from a furlough?

Not to be a Debi-Downer...But, something else to think about...The majority of FDX daytime flying is for the USPS contract. That is a "renewable" contract requiring 600+/- of our pilots. 4A2b wouldn't save 600 pilots, if we lost that.

disclaimer: Just a wag on the pilot #.

Tough for me to make a true comparison,
but do know one of my AMR buds-98 hire, predominantly fly's the red eyes back into DFW.

I do think some of that is by choice, could pick a different base\plane and life would kinda be better and worse all at the same time by adding in the commuting complication.

On the other hand, AMR had a friendlier commuter no harm\no foul policy and longer call out windows. Not sure how the merger will complicate that issue

Albie is correct! I find someone in the hiring business much more credible than someone in a cubicle. Doesn't mean FedEx is not going to see apps. The question is how many of our new hires will leave first chance they get? It is a better place to hang out than the regionals, but pax hiring and pay is coming back and the day flying/multi domicile is looking much better.

Bird, how close are you in age to the average pilot looking for work? I know many pilots looking to make the jump to major airlines, and all of them consider FedEx their backup/contingency plan. I think it is sad, but I understand.

Thanks for confirming my statement, it is better than a regional! Everyone would like to improve their position. Just like every pilot that does not meet the FedEx qualifications would also gladly work here! I would gladly fly as a captain, but my number hasn't come up yet!

FedEx was and probably still is a great place to work. I say that because I don't work there any longer, having retired a few years ago, but with that said, I have only one thing to say to you today...

It's a jungle out there. You gotta look out for number one, but don't step in number two. And so, to all you pilots... as you go out into the world my advice to you is... don't go! It's rough out there. Move back with your parents. Let them worry about it.

Poetic license exercised for "Back to School" starring the late but great Rodney Dangerfield.

Keep working toward the goal! Hopefully the QOL will return to something worth bragging about. It is a much better job market forecast now for getting hired at the majors. If you network well, you'll be here sooner than you think. Would you leave DAL for here?
My friends, who are not from MEM, it is simply a fallback.

FedEx has the most highest minimum qualifications! Most highly qualified pilots will likely be picked up by DAL, UA, AA, etc. before they they qualify for FedEx in the next decade plus. Could be wrong, my crystal ball is the first generation and does not have an inoperative light!

Any word on hiring? Pilot credentials has been back online for us guys that already had a profile on file for the last few years. But I noticed that the website still isn't acceptig new profiles. Is it possible that they will draw from existing profiles before they open it up to everyone? I've got 3 letters/references/sponsor. I've been on file for 3 years and updated biweekly. Any inside info would be appreciated.
