Incorrect.
CBA 26.J.2.a Specifically states the above, if you use the company jumpseat. But as to how they apply those provisions and to whom is a different subject. Many people violate this section of the contract regularly with no repercussions but others have been removed from trips. One question raised by this contractual provision is, what is considered a duty period on an augmented crew? The Union will simply not address this issue. I "burn" quite a few days in MEM arriving early for international flights to comply with the strictest interpretation of this provision. But once again, the company uses the contract in an arbitrary manner and the Union does nothing.

I believe you are misinterpreting this section of the CBA. You need to read the section as a whole. It clearly says that this section is for using "Staging" priority. You are allowed to js "Personal" anytime you want. You just won't be protected for pay purposes or discipline purposes if you miss your trip due to a delay or cancellation. Hence the want to be in Memphis early so you don't screw yourself, or the company. Also, if you call in fatigued for the trip, you are opening a huge can of worms for yourself. Bottom line, show up rested and ready to work, unless it's no fault of your own.

I got an invite to do an interview Sept-Oct. last week. I replied with my preference for mid Oct. but haven't heard back yet. I'm studying general subjects but am getting nervous so about to pull the trigger on Emerald Coast and RST.

I got the same email--and like you, no word yet. I'd start preparing as much as possible!

It's a two person show in hiring Dept. Be patient. Do ECC; you be glad you did regardless of who you interview with. Go to the seminar prep'd.

I've got the interview date confirmed for a few weeks out. I will sign up for Emerald Coast but I don't know if if can get to a live seminar. I think it will be a huge confidence booster but I'm wary of sounding disingenuous.

Going to an interview prep is NOT being disingenuous. You have to tell your stories and your situations to the HR folks. Sounding like a complete idiot who hasn't prepared isn't disingenuous. Interview preps don't tell you what to say, they tell you how to say it and without saying shiite you shouldn't say.

Trust me, you'll regret not adequately preparing for this job of this caliber. You're a few weeks out and you haven't prepared, you're about a year late bro. You need to get yourself squared away and fast.

Think back to when you first started flying, did you not chair fly because you didn't want to sound disingenuous on the radio? Everyone benefits from practice.

It appears that the October class has been filled....

Does anyone have information on when the November class might be?
