Now I look like every other guy in AOC at 2am. Fat, bald and pale.

Good luck with your application. :D:D:D

Too funny and so true!

I was at the sort a couple of months ago and ran into and old squadron mate.

I almost did not recognize him, he looked old, grey, and portly.

Then I realized that I look that way too!

I was in AOC a few weeks back at 200am. Thought I recognized someone from awhile ago too. Only thing was they were fat bald and grumpy looking. Then I realized I was looking in a mirror!
Guess I need to hit the gym, rogaine bottle and a tanning booth!

So maybe a silly question, but I'm genuinely curious. How serious is FedEx about hiring from within the company? Right now I'm a college student working at Ground as a package handler. It's a decent job and I plan on staying there until I get my CFI so probably 2-3 years, hopefully making it into management in that time. Has anyone heard of a situation like this where previous FedEx employees got preferred treatment?

I haven't even started my instrument rating yet, so I have a longggg time to go before I'm at that stage but it was just in the back of my mind.

I'm only speaking of a new hire so not sure exactly how they're spinning the wheels upstairs but we had 2 previous box "handlers" (dont say throwers.) They got recognized as a success story. I would imagine the least amount of time between former employment to pilot app the better but once you qualify under their matrix that little nugget of former employee or even better, current employee, you'll have a leg up. Again only my HO from the reception that I've witnessed this week.

There is an entire tab on the FedEx Pilot Credentials application titled "FedEx Experience" which contains quite a few yes or no questions about working in various other departments within the company. My guess is answering yes to some of these may add some points to your total app score but I don't know that for a fact.

I'd say that it certainly helps a good bit. I was recently hired after previously being an Intern with the company some 15 years ago, while in College. Like the fella above stated about the Pilot Credentials section. But also it provides an abundance of talking material during your Interview, shows your dedication to the company, and gives you terrific insight to the operation.

I just received a CJO last week and am trying to make an educated guess regarding moving to Memphis or Cologne. It's easy to do research on the housing in MEM, but I'm finding it a bit more difficult regarding CGN. Is there a group of FDX pilots on the internet somewhere that I can query? I'm trying to find basic info like the cost of housing; do most pilots live in a general area; will I need to get a car; etc.? Anyone help that can point me in the right direction would be fantastic. Thanks for the insight!
