They do not really need 757/767 IS&S sims for initial. They can do all the initial training and qual sims all the way thru the Type ride.
Crews Return to MEM for a day of Diff and 1 SIM and the rest can be accomplished on IOE.

The AMR 727/ DC-10 Sims were different than FDX's.
The USair 727 Sim in PIT was different
The HEL and ZRH MD-11 sims were Different from ours. So was the McD Sim in LGB.

There were some issues, but they got ironed out.

It would be no different with respect to the 757/67

FedEx has submitted, in writing, that they only intend to hire for FDA's during the next 6 months (through June), with the exception of their internals (there are 14). Currently, there are 18 FDA openings (HKG) that FedEx intends to fill during the next few months. In order to achieve this, FedEx must first interview and hire more candidates into the pool. As it stands, none of the current pilots in the pool accepted HKG; they all bypassed.

Note: When including the internals, there are 21 pilots (error +/-2) in the pool.

It is 'possible' FedEx will ALSO hire into their CGN FDA, but this is pure speculation. No official offers have been made for CGN, and even if vacancies are created I would not expect to see many (perhaps 10 at best).

I do not expect FedEx will hire 200 pilots in 2015 unless their current plan changes dramatically. They have explicitly stated only internals will be provided domestic base opportunities through June. If this remains true, below would be the best case scenario:

- All 14 internals start class on or before June.

- 18 additional pilots interview, are hired, and accept HKG on or before June

In summery, they only intend to hire (at best) 32 pilots between now and the end of June, and therefore they would need to hire an additional 168 pilots during the July-December timeframe to achieve 200 in 2015. That's 28 pilots a month and isn't likely, namely for 2 reasons:

1) FedEx has a max training capacity of 16 crews per month
2) FedEx isn't keen on large training during November-Decmeber

Anything is possible. FedEx 'can' run FO/FO training and they 'can' hire every month. They may even hire a few into CGN. Be that as it may, when you look at what has been officially announced and what has historically occurred, it isn't likely.

...but this is aviation. Everything is always in flux.

PS - What revision are we on?
With the details of those numbers and it being your first post, I am very curious to who you are.

If FedEx needs to Hire (your 168#'s) before next Peak, they will.
They can easily train off site if need be,as they have done multiple times in the past 23 years during hiring booms. many of us trained offsite in ATL, PIT, MIA, DFW and HEL & ZRH.

Again, I agree with your assessment. But should the need arise, FDX can train a lot of folks.

That said, Big Hiring rumors are always the
perfect distraction during Negotiations. Don't believe it until it is on the ramp painted Purple/orange.
I agree with you, it's a distraction. We just went through peak and the staffing seemed to be adequate. Sure there were moments but 99% of the cargo got to its destination on time. I had some Hotel Standbys and was never called, and I wasn't alone. I think their only short term problem is the FDAs which is why they've been asking newbies to go there.

Pure speculation = true!

All other bolded items = not true.

1) In January, FedEx provided training a hiring plan for the first 6 months of 2015. The plan only specifies FDA hiring – plus and a minimum number of domestic slots that will go internal. That was in an email that went out to ALL the poolies.

2) FedEx submitted an open letter that they hired 21 internals in November. The first class (drawing on those 21 internals) also started in November (class size was 7), leaving 14 internals.

3) The original poolie group size has not changed since 3/13. Of them, two pilots (poolies) interviewed during 09/14 and six interviewed during 10/12.

If there are others, I am not aware.

Ok, so what do you think going forward based off that information and future hiring and possibly when they may look for externals?

Corrections to previous post (above).

2 hired 9/12 still in pool (Date typo above)
6 hired 10/12 (1 of those was an internal and started class shortly thereafter)

So actually 7 non-internal poolies.

So this was official FDX communication sent only to those in the pool?

Does this mean no off the street hiring until July?
