The union guys are like used car salesmen, snake oil salesmen. Just because they have great video production, great talking points and the power of ALPA selling this sugar coated sh*tball doesn't make it any more palatable. They need to sell this because it is their baby, but remember no matter how much you sugar coat a sh*tball it is still a shi*tball.
FedEx has come out of the worst recession since the great depression remaining profitable throughout. Over the last 15 years we have seen profits grow nearly 400%. We are buying companies, airplanes, building huge facilities and expanding our networks. Oil is hovering around $40 a barrel, a lot of our competition has been literally wiped off the face of the earth--gone. There is a pilot shortage and the company has manning really screwed up--they really need us.
I don't think asking for a real pay raise, to protect the value of retirement and benefits and for some QOL improvements not concessions is unreasonable--actually I'm crazy enough to say I'm sure we have earned that as a minimum.
Crazier yet I don't even feel bad demanding that.
I supported the Union and the NC until now. Time to go fellas. We pay you to represent us and you represented your interests and FedEx instead-time to fire you. It would be much easier and more expeditious if the Yes votes would just do the right thing and resign. No votes thanks for having a spine. We need more people like you. Some of you union guys have been there for decades, time to go back to the lines and schedules you have given the rest of us.
I'm not taking a decade long concessionary contract after one of the best decades for the company which occurred during one of the worst decades for the entire world economy. We earned a good contract, I'm not asking, I'm demanding one.

Amen brother.
See this TA for what it is.
Not even close to acknowledging our contributions to the company's staggering success. How can anyone get excited about this TA? Only those looking for the quick bump in pay, signing bonus, or jumping on the 50% DSA wagon can justify it in the short term. Beyond that, it's simply inadequate, underwhelming, and borderline insulting.
Simply cannot understand the MEC/NC apologists among us.
But for those of us willing to stand up for a new deal, there is this:
Lions need not concern themselves with the opinions of lambs.

It is nice to hear other crew dogs who still have a brain and a spine. It is going to take a grass roots effort to get this thing voted down. The union is working against us now and management is more adversarial than ever. We are currently paying 2% of our pay to have professionals screw us, that sounds illegal at least on this side of the ocean. We need to Vote this down big and get rid of the Yes votes, send them back to the awesome work rules and schedules they have brought us.
FedEx's growth is nothing short of explosive. Fellas if we don't finally stand up for ourselves, we will be living under this turd for the next decade and worse we will have confirmed again we will always take the deal no matter how bad it is.

You are right Tony I did confuse I think the IRS DB limit is like 220 or something this year. But the point is we have a cap. You want to remove the cap. You think we can make the pie bigger, I don't. An unlimited cap would have me paying for the new guys a plan at a 4 to 1 rate. I think that is too much.

You say it's unreasonable for his employer to plan for and provide that income (A Plan), but think nothing of putting the responsibility on the pilot himself for taking the 7%/8% B-plan and providing that income himself.
That doesn't even make sense. If The Company can't do it, how do you expect the pilot to do it? Is there a special stock market for pilots that give them an advantage over huge corporations?
How big would a B plan have to be in order to replace 50% of the pilot's income at retirement? Can it even be done under IRS limits? You can't determine an absolute value because too many assumptions are required to do the math, but I guarantee you it's a bigger number than what The Company would be required to put in the A plan, and it's a much bigger number than the IRS would allow.
Kill your A Plan and practice saying, "Welcome to WalMart"

All kidding aside. I'd take the current book contract we are under right now plus the following:
15% pay raise DOS then 4/4/4 (4 year deal)
A-plan Cap at 280k DOS (5k bump per year, max 295k)
B-plan DOS 8% (plus 1% in year 2,3,4)
New Per Diem
New Healthcare Plan
New Deviation Bank
New Disruption Pay triggers
New Section 11 (no I'm not in training dept)
IMO these numbers are fair and reasonable. We avoid MANY QOL givebacks.
That's all the new NC needs to accomplish.
Scrap all the other nonsense.
That's as simple as it gets but addresses most everyone's needs.
Where do I sign?
How many would join me?
