Block 1 Rep Posting September 12th
Disturbing that block 1 rep has any problems at all with obtaining accurate information and access to ALPA national personnel. I hope this does get resolved ASAP. ALPA National better tread very, very carefully here. I've been a union and union officer supporter. But, withholding data and access is something that would spin me up.
Block 1's Posting today, September 12th:
With apologies, the communication I had hoped to send to you no later than yesterday is delayed until next week. In part, this is so that new information can be incorporated, and also because access to costing data and personnel at ALPA National's offices—vital to the dissenting elected representatives on your MEC for the purpose of verifying information presented by the Negotiating Committee—has been denied. I have faith, however, that our MEC officers will resolve the issue soon.
Accurate, unfiltered information is the oxygen of your democracy, and unfettered access to that information is its lifeblood. Your patience in the matter is appreciated.
Meanwhile, here's some food for thought: While $1.7 Billion worth of claimed improvements in this TA sounds like a large number, some perspective is in order. That's less than 1/2 of one percent of the company's projected revenues from the amendable date through the end of the TA. One half of one penny per dollar of revenue.
For additional perspective: To cover increased costs, the company raised prices 4.9% earlier this year across the board—ten fold the entire amount gained in this TA. This follows a similar pricing move in 2012 and fuel surcharges which have been increased even as fuel prices decline.
Do you still think there's "no money available" to improve your retirement A plan?

Now why would The union deny that info?

I am sure there are more gains for the company - I just don't have the time or inclination to look when my NO vote is so firmly committed and awaiting voting day.

What about figuring out how much we return in DH tickets every single month? And now, in the FDA's as they put the crunch on Hotel In Lieu Of, those ticket deviation savings will be again, fully going back into the company's pockets. How much will the company save with this TA by avoiding paying for hotels with layovers now in between 4 and 5 hours with the 'expanded use of hub sleep rooms'? Health care? First class seats on >16 hr. legs? Cancelled hotels for only $30 of bank? New restrictions on shipping weights (concessionary) for FDA's? No more Passover Pay? Dash-8's in Europe? New $25 re-booking fees to Global Travel???
Hmmm... I wonder why the company slapped the 6 year duration on this? I just cannot figure it out.
