Sorry if I misunderstood your post, however I think the company would agree to allow us to limit their use of standby periods (phantom or not) during peak, right after they agree to improve our A plan. Just not going to happen.

I was a no voter by the way, not that it should matter.

As far as sick "abuse", I agree with you except I don't think the company really feels there is a problem. Abuse is just a term they us as an excuse to harass and intimidate us into not calling in sick when we should.

And there are those that advocate grieving the additional STBY pairings the company creates.

IMO-that is a grievance we would lose. Hard to argue when the company comes in with the position that they desire the extra coverage, and pay every pilot who steps up to the plate by requesting one of the Stbys....and that they are filled when the company has sufficient Reserve coverage.

Sick Leave is a negotiated benefit. I still use the IMSAFE mindset to determine whether I'm Fit to Fly.
I am quite confident that FedEx doesn't want me flying their airplanes when the stress level or emotions are running too high
