Deviate with rental car??

Deviate with rental car??
Possibly stupid question. Can we deviate and use a rental car to go from where we were scheduled to layover to a different city (not home or domicile). I just want to zip over to visit a friend and all buses/trains/flights aren't working.

Sure, just don't expect the company to pay for said rental car. This topic was just discussed a few days ago, I believe. You can, however, use a limo service or Uber, as was discussed. And, under no circumstances, can you "zip."

In as much as we all suspect that Management policy is dictated by the Corporate Legal Department ...
I've always suspected that the "no rental car" policy was a liability issue? Otherwise it would often save $$ for the penny-pinchers
