Default That retirement mailer we got a week ago

I received in the mail a mailer regarding our retirement. I guess it has to do with the "B" fund? I've asked around the crew room and from what the people that I've talked to have said, this thing is about the changes of some terms, primarily.

Any ideas what the specifics are? I can't make heads or tails out of it....

I recommend that you call the number on the mailer. I wouldn't trust an anonymous forum with my retirement.

Are you talking about the mailing describing the merger of the PMPPP and the PRSP?

Thanks for posting the link CS.

Sorry- didn't get time to get back to you yesterday Mark. It is mostly academic, as the two accounts merge into one. This single account will be managed and invested based on your Vanguard Target Retirement Trust selection you should have made, unless you signed up for either new Financial Engines options. Selections/changes will be frozen Dec. 28th at 4pm EST and transferred in kind to the new single PRSP (thank goodness- the PMPPP was a mouth-full) and unfrozen by the first week of 2017.

One area I saw as an improvement is the B plan/(current 8%) monies are done each pay period, not once a month as before.

It is very important as they say in the video to re-select your beneficiaries lest you risk giving money to "someone you don't like".

Cheers,

BK

Yes, thanks a ton for this link CS. As a new hire trying to navigate all these concepts, the FDX MEC channel on YouTube has been the most consistently beneficial explanation on MANY topics. Very thankful for those guys.

Someone just telling me to read the contract, not so much. I realize all the details are in there, but for some reason (maybe it's just me!), I can't make heads/tails of what's in there.

Not just you...feel free to call the folks at Contract Enforcement if you have a specific question. Also, not sure if new-hires are given a copy of the pocket calendar, but (after logging in) you can see the electronic version on the FDX MEC home page under "REFERENCE" tab:
https://fdx.alpa.org/Default.aspx?tabid=3068. Welcome & good luck!

I can't find in that video, nor in the mailer, information about when or how we can change our 401K deductions to a Roth 401K. It doesn't seem to be an option on Vanguard, either. I understand this probably won't be available until January, however I don't want any of my contributions for next year to go to something other than the Roth 401K, and don't want to miss out on whenever the window is to change it. The freeze is from Dec 28th-sometime during the first week in January, so I'm guessing it would be after the freeze...however, you have to make sure and do it before the contribution comes out of your Jan 15 check.

Anyone have any info on that?

I bet Vangard does. Not trying to be jerk, but I think the best source of info for something that important would be the broker.
