Alpa ltd plan
#52
I sampled a few pay stubs from 2016. I was basically paying around $100 to $115 average for the 24 month wait LTD insurance. First pay stub of 2017 is $310.72. This wasn't a big check either. Too much. I'm out.

The ALPA INS on the pay stub includes Option Life too. After subtracting that premium, My LTD with the 12 month wait went from $175 to $398; getting too rich for me with 3-5 years til retirement. Probably cancel this soon.

A little off subject, but I have an insurance question. Is there a waiting period before a new hire is eligible for medical insurance, and is there a per-existing condition clause?
The reason I am asking is I was just offered a class date and my wife is scheduled for minor surgery just after my expected class date. Would FedEx insurance cover that surgery?
Thanks all!

FedEx insurance would not cover his child.
He had to finish his 20 years in the military to get coverage for his child.
It might be a good idea to ask about your specific situation.

I'm surprised to hear that. One thing I've had almost no complaints about at FedEx is the buy-up health plan. Our PHB and medical book on the EHR website don't contain any language restricting pre-existing conditions afaik. I wonder if there's a master medical document that spells out more details that's not as easy to find? Anyone know?
