I have personal knowledge of the situation, he was a good friend of mine. What I have said is true. He was told by FedEx that they would not cover his son, and they let him go back to the military and take a leave of absence for 4-5 years in order for his son to be covered.

No doubt this cost him money in terms of career earnings and vacation/retirement accrual.

He was in my new hire class, and had to finish IOE before going back into the military in order to make the deal work. He was my sim partner.

If you are a Bus Captain, you probably flew with him.

You might think twice before you call someone a liar again.
Wow, that was strangely and unnecessarily rude

I did not call you a liar, and I'm not questioning that he told you that. I question whether he was correct. Someone could have given him bad information, he might have misunderstood or there might be some odd circumstance. And sure, I could be wrong, but I have never heard of anyone or their family being turned down for FedEx medical coverage because of a prior condition. If they turned down a child for a severe birth defect, that's lawsuit material.

I see that Bill Kilgore's child with severe heart defects was covered. Have your friend talk to him and maybe he can get some advice getting his child medical benefits. And Bill, I'm sorry you have had to go through that with your son. I hope he's doing well now.

In the above sentence, you questioned my honor, i.e., called me a liar. In light of that, I don't think I was rude. You were rude by calling me a liar.

The pilot in question is dead. If he were not, I am sure he would post about his experience to back me up.

I assure you, he was correct in what happened. I witnessed the stress put on him during his new hire training as he was whipsawed by the company, as I was his sim partner.

You owe me an apology.

If you were an honorable man, you would man up and post one for the board.

I am waiting.

You won't have to wait long. I do apologize that my post came across to you that you were a liar. That is not what I intended, whatsoever. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, and very sorry about the loss of your friend.

Default Back on Alpa LTD....

After much math crunching and speaking with my financial guy of 20 years, I'm canceling tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up about emailing. We live well below my salary and are trying to self insure more and more every year (i.e. saving and investing).

Just yet another instance where Alpa drops the ball. 260% increase.....no thanks. Don't let the door hit you......

I really wish they would have given an estimate for how long they thought the increase would last. If it was just for a short time to fill the coffers, I think people would stick with it. I am, for now.

Not before Obamacare. Happened to my nephew.

That's awful, was that FedEx insurance? I know people that were turned down for insurance, charged an insane premium, or had their pre-existing conditions not covered. But those people had individual insurance, not employer based insurance.

I have to admit, there are some parts to Obamacare that I really hope they keep.

There is a reason that insurance premiums spiked and companies are bailing out of the exchanges. I certainly hope that anyone who needs healthcare gets it, and they usually did before and after Obama, but covering preexsisting conditions is not insurance.
