Two 757 DPs have guys in the left seat already. 171/19Jan and 292/25Jan. Ignorance isn't a good excuse.
What is your point on 777 trips to China. Opting in our out of something based on an MOU isn't the same as flying a DP the union asks us not to fly. There's a big difference there.

First, I missed one of the two you mentioned, so thank you. Second, that is 8 out of 24 seat positions total, and 2 out of 12 in the left for the 75. Not quite as bad as your 8 out of 12 sounds. You can spin it however you like. And yes, I do think ignorance is an excuse for those guys since it has been so long since there has been disputed pairings. This is coming from a guy with over 20 years here and has never flown a disputed pairing or a draft trip.

As far as the disputed pairings and the China flying goes, the union never asked pilots not to pick up those pairings, they only said that you have to ask for them or be assigned on reserve, and if you do, please file a report so that they have more info. Kind of like the union saying that if you fly the China routes and are in those substandard hotels where you can't sleep, make sure that you fly rested. Sounds like that flying would have been disputed if it could have been. Everyone can justify doing what they want and criticize others for choosing something else. At the end of the day, if you feel like flying disputed pairings is ok, someone will get assigned those pairings, or flying draft to China because the union was concerned enough to get an MOU to opt out of China flying and you thought that flying to China was ok, that is your decision. However, the intent is the same. Neither the union nor the contract prevent someone from doing either.

Those are training start dates - Basic Indioc will be before that, not sure of that start date.

So potentially no MEM up for grabs?

There are January and February start dates for all airplanes FO MEM.

The OAK, ANC, and IND new hire training dates start in March.

Basic Indoc will start before those dates. I think training can be as short as two weeks after Indoc start but sometimes there is a delay for training after completing Indoc.

The Training Letter contains MEM Slots for every Fleet w/ Systems class start dates in January and February. People often get confused with Training Letter dates, because they're a month or so after BI. Most January and February New Hires will get MEM assignments.

There are very few ANC, OAK, and IND Systems class dates in March, which would likely translate to a February BI.

ANC11 - 8
OAK76 - 4
IND76 - 4

And then every thing else would be MEM slots in the every fleet.

At least a few more of you know about DPs. Is reading the SIG note that much of a burden? How does everyone want the DP info sent out? Text it directly to your device? The SIG notes get emailed to you every month with a link which is about as close to that as it gets. Screen shot the DPs (if there are any) and keep them handy. FX cal is free from what I hear. Use that to check OT without auto-polling. Or pay the $60/year and use BidX which is a much better product. You can enter any DPs there and and they'll show up in red when you check OT.

I'm out. Merry Christmas.

The contract is almost 600 pages of mostly legalese. I don’t expect anyone, including you, to know all these details in that document. So please spare us the personal insults. And the contract doesn’t tell pilots to sign up for SIG notes or how and where to do it. We just don’t do a good job of teaching all these finer points to pilots.

As for identifying them, it’s not rocket surgery to know that the easiest way to do it is by being identified by VIPS when searching open time. That is the best way to do it. Of course that’s not what we have now. It appears that it needs to be something that is negotiated.

Bottom line, if you want people to change their behavior, you first have to make it easy for them to do it, then you have to incentivize it. That part just takes education, which the MEC tries to do via the SIG notes.
